“The Cochrane House is absolutely lovely! I'm looking for a reason to visit Detroit again just to stay here. The shared space is very warm and homey. The rooms are comfortable with a spa-like bathroom. I wish our plans would have allowed us to stay longer!
Walkability: We were visiting to attend a hockey game. Both the hockey arena and baseball stadium are a few blocks away on foot.”

“Beautiful venue but very little leg room and i am 5'4. Also we just saw The Thorn and the volume was uncomfortably loud causing me and others around us to have to plug our ears for 25% of the performance. The staff was amazing! Very helpful when trying to find ur seat. Food and drinks very expensive like a 15 oz bottle of water was like $7.”
“In short: we couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding. We worked with Taliah to plan and prepare our wedding there, and the process was incredibly smooth, detailed, and organized. She left no stone unturned and helped us make decisions on things we never would have thought about - there are so many things, both large and little, that make for a great wedding, and it was clear on our day that they were ready for all of them. Every single person we interacted with at every level of staff was very kind, thoughtful, and attentive. Our guests remarked on how amazing the venue is; pictures barely do it justice.
We feel very fortunate to have had our wedding at the Gem, it was everything we could've wanted and more for our special day.”

“Beautiful building. Worth a stop in if you are into art deco or staying at a nearby hotel. There are very good coffee places nearby. I recommend the audio tours you can find on trip advisor.
Staff was hit and miss. Once, friendly and accommodating , another time, curt when a wedding was being prepared for in the morning. (There were no signs, placards or any indication that there was no access to the ground floor areas, so it’s really not on the general public to know these things, is it?)

“PLEASE READ THIS, Byblos is the best place to do ur wedding and Nisreen and Joe are the best people. Nisreen is so funny and Joe is very serious and very professional on Byblos. Please READ THIS! BUT If you’re planning to go to Byblos and If you see a guy named SAJED I can’t take him seriously on my mom’s life I can’t. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO ANNOY SAJED AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! Every time I’m invited to a wedding at Byblos, the guys that work there act silly at Byblos when no one is looking, or when Joe is not here they throw napkins and coffee creamers at each others faces, the bar attendant I don’t know her name I heard her making funny hilarious jokes that I didn’t even understand though, but at the same time she’s very polite and professional to the costumers that come to the bar. But out of all BYBLOS IS THE BEST! Joe is the best and Nisreen is the best!”

“I've been here many times to play for events. The facilities are beautiful and well-maintained. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The views are incredible. The catering is excellent--everything is delicious. It's rare as a vendor (musician) to be treated so well at such a beautiful venue. It does take time to get here--you might imagine since it's just off of Jefferson, it would be right there, but it takes time to drive around the island. It's a beautiful drive, though.”
“We went for a christmas party, was a nice spacious hall. The bathrooms and hall were very clean. Nicely decorated. They had a coat check, which was a plus, lots of parking. The bartender was very knowledgeable about different drinks, great at giving suggestions. Great customer service.”

“Visited this club for the first time to see an Indie band this week. Had never heard of it before and had no idea what to expect. Really nice place, I thought it was fantastic. Well run, clean, sound was good, beautiful back beer garden out back, friendly crowd… this is a great place to see up-and-coming bands and I can imagine it’s gaining a reputation for that, for good reason. Only thing is no dedicated parking and nothing obvious nearby.”

“i’m white it was hot. Not too bad but I’m just sensitive to the sun.So I had not only an umbrella but a little blanket on the umbrella, my darker skin friend was fine on the hot black monolithic amphitheater of the Carhartt stage. So when I felt my life force draining out of me, I went down a little further to the stage level, in there to the right was all the shade I could possibly want. And don’t tell anybody but hidden plumbed women’s bathrooms. Mums the word. Above us were thousands of people using Porta potty’s and then maybe tens of people knew about the women’s bathroom. But anyway 4 days ,three stages free music! The food trucks were jammin. I drank my weight in yummy lemonade. Now the GPS that I was using on my phone could not tell me how to get to this festival from ann arbor though I tried several times. it could not tell me where any parking was closer than 10 miles which was just …I don’t know I fell into some kind of Internet black hole. So we decided to go anyway and just research on the ground. Then amazingly free Street parking was right there handy. That was a stroke of luck I’m sure. But there was also a sign for $10 parkingOn the street adjacent parking lot.”

“Nice monthly Smooth Easy monthly dance.Nice music and DJ Rod most of the time. One major complaint is no paper towel or hand dryer in the women’s restroom outdated restroom downstairs. It might be different upstairs. Large basement-like party downstairs. Mature (safe) crowd and mostly street parking due to small lot. Limited soul food menu $15-$20 for a short period of time. Enjoy ❤️”
