“Told hubby I wanted a quick getaway the weekend before Valentine's (which also happens to be my birthday…yes born lucky!) Hubby did his homework on this one! He put me in the suite at Cochrane House! This place blows every casino hotel downtown out of the water! Yeah just try to book here first…worth it!Now onto the actual experience! Upon entering this breathtakingly beautiful establishment, you will be greeted by two of the cutest sisters (Cina and Rica) you ever saw (sisters in both meanings as they are black beauties of the same parentage)! They will greet you with the warmest sunshine smiles that actually match the warmth and beauty of the very classy elegant place! They assured us they will stop at nothing to make sure your every need or concern is met right away and made good on it too! These smart ladies made sure all your senses were touched starting with the lovely smell of what I later learned was their signature house linen spray (should have asked if they sell it)! Somehow these two young ladies put their heads together and came up with the most beautiful decor! It’s luxurious and modern yet, still feels warm and inviting, calming and very soothing! I don’t know if it was the beautiful art and sculptures or the lovely well thought out and placed furniture and throws. Though, come to think of it, maybe it could be all the exposed brick and stone elements or the gorgeous bedroom with large tv, huge leather sofa, gorgeous king sized bed, luxury bathroom and shower. Maybe, it was the huge kitchen with every amenity known to man! The lovely glass of red wine and the chocolate covered strawberries certainly didn’t hurt! Speaking of food, breakfast sure made “hotel continental” look pathetic! Give me fresh baked biscuits, bacon and skillet cooked potatoes, caramelized onions and great coffee options over runny oatmeal, dry cereal, bagels and the huge drum of too strong, horrible tasting coffee any day! The location of this lovely gem places you within walking distance to many of the downtown attractions the Fox Theater, Comerica Park stadium, Little Caesars Arena and lovely restaurants like Harbor House, Fish bones (our choice!) and Loco’s just to name a few.As if all this glory I just mentioned wasn’t enough, Hubs up his game one more time and surprised me with a full body massage “in house”. Either one of these lovely ladies can set this up for you when you book your stay. Make sure to ask for Ms Lisa Warren! This lady beat so many knots out of my neck and shoulders! By the time she was done, I was putty in my husband's hands! Hey, what happens at Cochrane House stays at Cochrane house! We’ll be back for sure!!! Book them right NOW!!!”

“We had a great dinner experience. The many other reviews recommending the soft pretzel w/ beer cheese sauce are right on; it is one of the best pretzels ever. The burger with fries, and chicken wrap were good as well. The service was very friendly and speedy. We will definitely revisit!”

“They had two N/A cocktails, one N/A beer, and several sparkling water options! I would recommend the High Vibrations N/A cocktail, very gingery and great for sipping while still being delicious. The Phone Negroni is a bottle N/A cocktail that I've seen at other places, it is tasty, but you're missing out a bit on the cocktail-being-made-in-front-of-you experience. “Enjoyed our visit here with our friends! We all had a good time, with good drinks! I enjoyed my drink with the name Belvedere in it, I can't remember the full name and my husband enjoyed the Old Fashion. They were delicious! “We had our wedding at Waterview Loft in the fall of 2023. Everything about working with Waterview was amazing, their attention to detail is unmatched. The all inclusive vendor package made wedding planning so much easier than seeking out our own vendors and they did a lot of the time consuming work for us. Our even coordinator, Lizzie, was so easy to work with and helped us through every step of the planning process with literally everything. Our experience the day of our wedding far exceeded our expectations, we truly felt like royalty and were catered to by the staff the entire evening, especially by Adel our day of coordinator. They had our special drinks and food preferences at the ready all night! The food for our guests was amazing, from the hors d'oeuvres all the way to the late night snack. The location of the venue was all our guests could talk about for weeks, they loved the water front view of the Detroit River and easy accessibility to the city and hotels. I could not say enough good things about our experience here, if you want to host a wedding that offers the full package, look no further than Waterview Loft.”

“We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception at The Gem Theatre on 12/16/23. Amber was our lovely sales manager who we worked with from when we booked the venue a year before our event until the week before our wedding. She responded quickly to emails and answered all of our questions with transparency. For weddings, The Gem cannot guarantee that couples can host their rehearsals at the venue itself and is only able to communicate if this is possible two weeks before the event. But Amber knew how important this was to us and was able to tell us that we had secured the venue for our rehearsal a month prior, which took stress off our shoulders! Nathalie rocked it as our venue manager, who handled day-of logistics. She was present for our rehearsal the day before and made sure we were all on the same page. She communicated our vision to The Gem staff so that they could follow suit and coordinated seamlessly with our vendors. The food was phenomenal! We had passed appetizers during our cocktail hour and opted for crab cakes, mini beef wellingtons, and spanakopita. Everyone loved all of them. Same thing for the dinner and bar service. No complaints! The staff was on-point throughout the evening tending to the needs of us and our guests. We personally found the cost of The Gem to be reasonable considering the location within downtown Detroit (right next to Ford Field), the exceptional service, and the gorgeous venue itself. It was also very convenient that the venue has free on-site parking that they let us use for our rehearsal the day before and then for all of our guests the day of. We hosted our wedding on the same day as a Lions game and the fact that our guests could park in The Gem's structure easily was wonderful. The whole event ran smoothly. Whatever hiccups there were we weren't aware of as Nathalie handled them. We would wholeheartedly recommend hosting a wedding at The Gem! Thank you again to the whole team at The Gem for making our wedding such a success!”

“Have been here a couple of times, most recently it was for a Detroit art show where vendors come together and sell products they made themselves. Then, a week late for the Rock Honors, which is a huge event my company puts on to celebrate the big wins of the year. The building is old, full of history, and well taken care of. For sure would like to go sometime for one of the big musical events.”

“What a fantastic evening!!! Better than expected... and I had great expectations! I've been waiting to go here for over 20 years to try feather bowling. Only place in the US that has it... and it was super fun! Prices were great on both bowling and drinks. It was bar service, but pretty easy to get a drink and the bar 'helper' was amazing! They had a pretty decent band going on... it was a Friday night. But out at the bowling area, it wasn't over whelming... we could talk and enjoy the band at the same time. Enjoy! Seriously, an absolutely amazing time!”

We took my handicapped father to see Tim Allen and the amount of friendly and helpful staff made navigating through the crowd with a wheelchair unbelievably smooth. I am a mobile mixologist and did a party there it has a bar, a room for pictures, DJ booth, a full kitchen, a nice size dance floor, walk-in bathrooms and an awesome owner. Plenty of room and very very nice, professional and clean and there's plenty of parking outside.”
