Book Stores in Midland, MI

“The store is nice and the staff is always helpful and friendly! I've bought well over 100 books here in the past decade. For a while things weren't looking good because they became more of a pop culture store than a book store, but they seem to found their identify again.

Another thing I'd like to mention is that I travel out of state a lot and have been to many Barnes and nobles. Most BN's don't have nearly as much staffing or quality customer service, the layout of the stores are always shaped like a maze and is really irritating to navigate and see through isles. They also removed their seating crating more of a cooperate dystopia to generate as much cash flow and business as possible while sacrificing comfort and identity in the process.

This particular BN has some (and I do mean limited) seating, but the layout is much more welcoming to sit down and read. That is the main reason I go here besides having a coffee and talking to the amazing staff. I confronted the organizational mendicity of other stores with managers here, and they confirmed BN is headed in that direction, however their agenda aligns more with mine of keeping the store warm and friendly with seating rather than just your typical shopping experience. That is what the original owner intended for BN! He wanted people to browse and sit down and read and feel relaxed, that's why he bought the company and changed the seating, paint, and layout. It'd be a shame to destroy his image out of maintaining corporate greed.”
