“I've been going to this shop since I was a kid tagging along with my dad to get his car fixed. About 30 years and 3 vehicles later, whenever I'm back in town and have issues big or small, Skidmore has always been there for me and has been so good to me. The whole staff is really knowledgable, fair and take pride in their work.
Recently, I was traveling across state when my vehicle had issues. The whole thing was rather disheartening but the only up side was that I was close enough to this shop to get it towed in.
Despite all my positive experiences here, the laundry list of issues had me worried. After hearing the estimate, I was stunned and relieved at the same time. It was rough but the estimate was more than fair.
I've thrown some (unintentional) curve balls at them since I have never been great at auto repair but no matter how bad it's been and no matter how worried I am, they have delivered and Kevin (both of them) have always been cool as a cucumber and really excel at helping me understand and calming my automotive anxieties.
I really can't say enough positive things about this shop. Especially in today's world of poor business practices, you will always be treated fairly and given accurate information for your repairs. So many times they have gone above and beyond for me and I'm not alone. They communicate along the way so you are kept in the loop and are made a part of the process.
I'd be willing to bet that you cannot find a better service in the tri-city area. I imagine that could probably be said about the entire state.
It's a staple within its community and a beacon to the world of auto repair. I could never trust a mechanic more than I trust these guys.

“Been going here for a couple years consistantly and only place I go for for oil changes. Staff is great prices are great and the owner is a great stand up guy as well. (Extra point for being a indepent shop) Theyre active in the community aswell with truck or treating and christmas events. I have a small fleet that gets all their oil done here”

“I was in a bind a looking for a shop near me that I could trust with some pretty hefty work on a car I got after mine was totaled, I reached out to this shop after seeing previous reviews. And I must say I agree, this shop is great. I brought the car in not knowing what to expect other than I needed some rear suspension and struts work done asap. They were able to get me in, allowed me to come into the shop to see what all they were replacing to ensure I was okay with the amount of work that would be done and he was able to get it in, worked and done for a great price and within a week. When most places couldn't guarantee I'd have it within a week. He even stayed a little later than shop hours some days to work on it so I could pick it up on a day the shop was closed. After getting my car back, it drives much better. A couple days after the work was completed I get a call saying there was a revision to some parts prices and I would be getting a refund for some of the parts. I was already happy with the price given, and then I get money back, it was not necessary and I really appreciate the honesty and giving me a call and check to refund it. To go even more above and beyond, when I was going to pick up the check for the refund, he topped off my mom's car tires with air at no charge. Overall a great experience and has made the whole anxious progress of getting major car repairs a non issue. I will be returning here for future car repairs.”

They care about their customers and don't take advantage like the big name shops do. They explain what needs to be done in a way I can understand and feel comfortable.
