“We've lived in town for a few years, but we hadn't understood the full value of this store until we bought a home that was in desperate need of a complete gutting and remodel. Here's why we shop at McLean's: 1. OUTSTANDING customer service with people who know where things are, and KNOW how to get things done! I have asked so many questions, received so much good advice, and I am certain that our home wouldn't be as far along as it is today without the help of the men and women who work in this store. Joe, Gary, Nancy, Cathy, Terri, Kip, Jeremy, Jessica, Alyssa, Celina...the list goes on and on. They've even helped me find solutions, multiple times, that didn't require me spending a penny in store! 2. UNBELIEVABLE selection of products. They probably carry what you're looking for, and if not, they'll tell you where you can get it. (More than once I've been told to head to another store to get a product they didn't stock...who does that??). Whether it's lumber, hardware, tools, or some miscellaneous bolt that you need to prevent a barn door from sliding off its rails (for real!), they have it. 3. LOCAL employees, local owners, and this is a company that invests in the community. They hire a lot of teenagers and work with their school and sports schedules like few other companies do. One of our kids worked for them and we couldn't believe how well they paid her, and how graciously they worked with her athletic and academic schedules. Locally owned matters. 4. COMPETITIVE pricing to go with their significant inventory. Sure, you can occasionally save money on certain products by hitting up the big box stores, but not having to drive 35 minutes (each way), or not having to try and find someone to help answer your questions (seriously...McLean's staff are plentiful and their experience is unmatched!) is worth a few extra dollars. 5. FREE popcorn. yeah, if you were on the fence before you now have a reason to make this store your go-to for hardware and lumber. You can't be sad and eat popcorn at the same time. So if you like locally owned hardware stores that have outstanding customer service, great inventory, competitive prices, and free popcorn...McLean's is the place for you!”

“This is the local hardware for town and the locals always say...if they don't have it ..you don't need it!! But it's a great store with awesome employees”

“They are a “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it,”. They have several stores in the chain of lakes area. They joined several stores that were struggling and that’s a good thing. The only thing they, all the satellite stores lack is a handyman’s lumber section. Certain stores have regular lumber yards but you better know your lumber yard lingo because what you need won’t necessarily translate into a word that will help the yard man find what you need. Unless you speak “lumber” tell the write up man what you are doing, and what you think you need, he will tell you in very simple terms, you must be stupid, the correct answer is “yes”, then tell him what you are doing and he writes it up and the computer spits it out, 2 copies, one for the yard boss and one for you, don’t lose it, you do, you lose, unless they know you and have your money they will fake it. It’s one of the greatest experiences a son learns from his dad especially if the lumber yard has known your family since Columbus needed a few planks to get him up to Oak Island to bury some treasure. I’m not kidding except about Columbus going to Oak Island. That’s like a Spaniard going to Finland in February for relief from the heat and sun. Ain’t happenin!”
