“Doug is my go to guy! He spends the time to find exactly what I'm looking for. I spent two weeks looking for a spool gun. Online said out of stock, but he looked into it. Found one and I had it in 4 day delivered to my house. I really feel taken care with Doug and all the people at the store.”
“I've got an old Toro tractor with a snowblower attachment, and the snowblower attachment gearbox mount had cracked and the gearbox was at a sharp angle. I only realized it when the chain slipped, so I knew I was in trouble when the inside of the case looked glittery from all the metal shavings from the gears and chain.
Mike and crew welded angle iron, not only at the top where it cracked, but at the bottom for added reinforcement so it wouldn't happen again or in a different spot. He replaced the gears and a bearing that were completely shot, and the chain. Furthermore, I didn't realize it but the chute blades had bent backward too, so it was pushing more snow back out than it was up and out. He tried to find a replacement but this thing is extremely old, so they bent them into the right shape. It runs like a DREAM. I had purchased it used and I don't think it ever ran this well in the last decade I've had it.
All in all, I was afraid of the cost but it was only 4.25 hours of labor for all that work, and the parts were very reasonable. They also got it loaded up into my trailer while I was paying, which was really nice! He might be a little crusty and abrupt on the phone, so you might not get the hand-holding service, but what he did for me saved my whole snowblower setup, and made it better than ever. When he walked me through everything they did and explained it to me, he was patient and not gruff. I'll definitely bring my business here, and recommend it to my friends and family.”
“This is how service at a hardware should be. You walk in there is someone to say hello and show you were to find what you need. Expertise if you need it. Im thankful there are still stores that know what good customer service is”
“If Roy's doesn't have it, you don't need it! From food to Minwax to nuts and screws, they have it all. They are open from 7 am-11-15 pm 7 days a week so if you're in Traverse City you can heart what you need at almost anytime. I have them 4 stars because they didn't have an iPhone holder for my husband but they actually put that on a list of things they need to get! It's an experience and it a gas station too!!”

“Well stocked store and friendly knowledgeable staff. They actually know where things are unlike other box stores.
To all the folks complaining about restocking fees that they didn't know about, it's well listed on their website under the item. It's to prevent people from buying a tool, using it, and then returning it. Basically using it as a free rental.”
“I was in a time crunch to get some specific paint and not only did they gladly help me, they even called an employee to come in who knew the paint department a little better since they were short staffed. That employee came in with the biggest smile on her face. Side note: I did NOT demand they call in extra help, it was done without my knowledge and they assured me it was how they operate!
