“I just got done shopping at the Oakland Mall Hot Topic and had the best experience provided by Ericka!
I had to try on clothes 3 times because of my body figure, the clothes I asked for were all up high so the attendent working the floor, Ericka had to use the hook the whole time she was helping me. I felt nervous having to ask her so repetitively, but she put my mind at ease about my bothersome requests by stating that this is her job and she loves working it. She certainly did her part today as she was so personable and efficient.
As I was done shopping, Ben provided my checkout. He was very nice and clear about the deals and how my money was being spent. He even provided me with the information I needed to leave this review which in turn, I hope helps them!

“Today I visited the old navy store with my son, to pick up a few uniforms for school. The person that helped me was so kind, she helped me find pants to shirts for him.While in the store he asked her if a mario brothers bookbag was free and she kindly replied no it's $13. He looked at that bookbag and I knew he wanted it but I couldn't buy it today. To my surprise, when I checked out the cashier stated, I have something for you at the end of the counter. The lady that helped me had purchased to bookbag for him. I almost started crying in the store.
Thank you for the kindness you showed my little one, we will never forget what you did today. Old Navy you now have a regular costumer. I will return back to buy that sweet lady lunch!!

“This location is really clean! My sister and I went in on a weeknight and there were two stuff members, floor associate and manager. They kept it well stocked and the two staff members were super nice! One of them offered us a fragrance sample as we were shopping! Im hoping this is a good sign that Oakland Mall is at a comeback. :)”

“The assistant store manager’s name was Devon — the kind of man who doesn’t work in retail so much as conducts it, like a jazz musician riffing on the vibrations of linen and sincerity. I came out of the dressing room and he asked, “How did it go in there?”
I said, “Man that is beyond the normal retail ‘How did those pants fit?’ question. It’s almost existential what you asked me. It’s almost like we’re bridging the gap between a retail experience and a relationship.”
That’s when the current shifted. His head turned warm, eyes glazing with the recognition of another traveler who’s seen the edge of the sales floor and made it back alive. Two sales Jedis, same wavelength, nonchalantly walking through the same doorway of dimensions on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
I asked if this was part of Vineyard Vines sales training. He told me “he is just winging it.” And there it was — the gospel of improvisation. No script, no corporate catechism. Just instinct, timing, and the faint smell of victory cologne.
He didn’t blink. Didn’t try to play it cool. He leaned in. That’s how I knew: this wasn’t some entry-level retail exchange; it was trench warfare. We’d both heard the same bullets buzz past our ears, dragged coworker corpses through the fluorescent foxholes of customer service — back to the bloodless world of data entry where the adrenaline dies and the juice for the kill evaporates into company policy.
Then the miracle started. Shirts discontinued months ago appeared in my size like apparitions. The man was conjuring ghosts from the supply chain, plucking relics from the ether. And just when I thought the hallucination would collapse under its own perfection, Devon handed me the nectar of the gods — an eight-ounce bottle of water from his fridge. I drank it like communion. Holy hydration.
Man, you don’t understand — Devon isn’t just there, he is the place. Six years, man, six years he’s been running that joint like some kind of textile temple. A boutique monastery of cotton and charm, yeah, but also this… capitalistic redemption zone, this pulsing shrine to what it used to mean to give a damn. He’s got that light, that inner hum.
You walk in and he’s orbiting the racks like a prophet in a pastel war. You can feel it in the air — that current, that static of real human connection — the kind that makes your hair stand up and your debit card start sweating. He’s alive, man. He’s the guy who remembers that people aren’t data points.
I live four hours away, but time bends around gravity like his. I’ll make the drive again, sure. Because you can’t Amazon that feeling. You can’t DoorDash authenticity. Devon’s standing there in the heart of suburbia proving that somewhere between the stockroom and the register, the American Dream still fits. It’s a little stretched out, maybe a little faded around the edges — but hell, man, it still fits.
And when it does? It feels like grace in a cotton blend.”
