Our Golden Retriever, Charlie, started training at Augusta in fall 2019, when he was about 11 weeks. We began with puppy kindergarten, then puppy basic, followed by basic and intermediate obedience. We also took the family dog class twice because it’s such great socialization. Charlie made a lot of friends and it was a great way to introduce him to other dogs.

Our trainer, Sam, was fantastic and Charlie absolutely loved him. What stuck with me most was something Sam said: one of the saddest things you can do is not train your dog. Without training, they don’t understand boundaries, they’re constantly getting put in their kennel and they end up feeling like they’re always in trouble.

After Covid, we enrolled Charlie in boarding school for more advanced training, which is essential for large dogs. Without it, their size and strength can easily overwhelm people. He came home very well-trained and has been a wonderful dog ever since!

Kathryn and Dave are incredible owners and continue to be a resource even after training ends. When my fiancé and I introduced our dogs and ran into a few issues, I called Kathryn for advice and it worked. Now they get along great!
