“Great experience moving money into Fidelity. We moved some money late in the year to test end of year reporting, found it excellent, and moved the rest of our retirement funds there. As someone who considers herself technologically challenged, I really appreciate the website. For example, there are two major buttons, one for trade (making changes to assets within an IRA or brokerage account) and one for transfer (moving money out of an account, such as cashing out part of an IRA or money money from a brokerage account to our bank accounts). I needed some handholding at the office and got it!”

“Wow customer service! Today we met with Branch Mgr Karen Westerberg for a HELOC closing. I arrived a bit earlier than my husband and instead of having me wait in the lobby, she invited me into her office for friendly banter. She then was able to get me set up with a checking account to save an additional 1/4 point off the loan (person we had worked with not at this branch did not inform of this savings option). VERY personable, knowledgeable and caring individual. Would recommend Eden Prairie Alerus to my friends and family.”

“I’ve been with SF about ten years and am very pleased. I felt that I had grown out of my tax accountant, and needed a broader view and counsel of my financial health, particularly as I approached retirement. I signed a one year contract from their menu of options. They familiarized themselves with my accounts, ran cash flows, net worth, tax projections, etc which confirmed that I was financially ready to retire. Later, they consolidated accounts, became familiar with my trust, assured that beneficiaries were all in good order, etc. My needs seem to alter each year and SF adapts well to that. They are a small firm of helpful people, but with deep expertise. If they don’t have the expertise inhouse, they source it through external partners. Tax planning and tax services are a big part of SF’s services. I have avoided both taxes and penalties with the guidance of SF. One of the things I value most are their willingness to answer life’s financial questions that arise. “I've found TD Ameritrade has the best customer service among all the online brokers, and I've tried quite a few. They also have extremely competitive pricing. They may not be the absolute lowest but they are close to it, and with its superior service, it's worth paying incrementally more. If I've ever had an issue, I call them, and they've always taken care of me and answered my questions, and also thrown in some free trades for any inconvenience I may have had. So I'm giving them 5 Stars to the whole online experience and 1-800 call in/telephone customer service. Now these retail stores are a bit different. They can help you with quite a bit including managing your money which is not what I'm using them for, nor what they are known for. I did have one guy from the local office who kept calling me trying to get them to manage my money (for a fee mind you), and he reminded me of the cliche-ish used car salesman. He is now gone. The person who calls me now is much more of a listener rather than pusher, and respects my wishes. If I need to drop off a check, I can do it at this local office, though that's not what the office is there for. If you are looking for an online broker I do recommend TD Ameritrade. If you are looking to open an account with them and haven't done so yet, send me a note and I'll help you get the most.”
