The Kahler Grand Hotel is a well-known resort in the area, particularly appreciated for its unmatched location directly across the street from the Mayo Clinic, Gonda, and Methodist buildings, making it very convenient for appointments. The hotel has undergone a lovely and comfy update. The rooms are generally described as nice, decent, fairly clean, and well cleaned, with comfortable beds, though some guests found the bed hard and the pillows very small and lacking support. Bathrooms can be small. The staff receives mixed feedback; some found them friendly and check-in a breeze, while others described them as a little blunt, not really welcoming, or even rude. Service issues were noted, such as unresolved Wi-Fi problems and occasional confusion with room assignments. The unique domed pool area is great and a cool historical note, though some feel it could use a renovation and finding it can be tricky. The attached parking ramp is a bonus, though its access system can be awkward and annoying, and availability can be limited. There is no complimentary breakfast, but several coffee shops are within close walking distance, including one attached to the lobby. Being downtown means noise from night life can sometimes be heard through the windows. Special rates for Mayo patients are offered, and the front desk is accommodating regarding room placement. Overall, many guests have stayed for years and would stay again, feeling that a few nights here definitely won't lead to regret.
The good: Location is great - perfect for walking to local shops and restaurants, hotel is clean and very quiet it has . Connected parking or valet, and low rates. The bad: Rooms are stuffy, windows are screwed shut, AC struggles. The ugly: pillows are horrible. Pack your own.

The parents always stay here, they like the full service and freebies. It's not our price point but when the bill is paid, it's wonderful.
