Indian Mounds Regional Park is a beautiful and historic destination in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Situated along the Mississippi River, the park offers visitors a chance to reflect on the original inhabitants of the area, the Dakota Nation, whose burial mounds can be found throughout the site. The park boasts a stunning overlook of downtown Saint Paul, as well as lovely walking paths and hills that provide a great workout. Visitors can enjoy spotting bald eagles soaring overhead and deer roaming the fields of prairie and wildflowers. The park is particularly beautiful in the spring and fall seasons. While the park offers amenities like playgrounds, pavilions, basketball courts, and grills, some visitors have expressed concern about the appropriateness of such facilities within a cultural burial site. The park's management has also faced challenges with maintaining the grounds, including issues with homeless individuals camping in the pavilions. Overall, Indian Mounds Regional Park is a cherished and significant piece of Minnesota's history, offering visitors a chance to connect with the land and its past. With proper respect and care, this park can continue to be a beloved destination for the local community and beyond.

My favorite spot in the Twin Cities. I'll make the drive to walk my dogs, pick up trash and enjoy the most ancient site in Minnesota. The trails are thousands of years old and in the fall, the sun sets behind Minneapolis. It's just a stunning beautiful place

Beautiful park and overlook. When you go to the overlook to read the plaque where I took this photo their is a circle in on the ground in the cement. Stand inside the circle and talk and something cool happens but take one step outside the circle and it stops. Any ideas why that is?
