Purrniture Cat Furniture
2242 University Ave W, St PaulMy 3 cats love their new tower! It's very sturdy and has so many spots for them to rest and play.I had the tower freight shipped across the country and Purrniture and the shipping company (Pitt Ohio) made that so easy. The tower arrived fully constructed and clean. My cats were all over it immediately.I ordered from the website but had some questions, the man I talked to, Darryl, was helpful, kind, and responsive. This furniture is worth every penny and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants quality cat furniture! Staff, customer service, and products really deserve more than 5 stars.

East Valley Animal Clinic
5049 Upper 141st St W, Apple ValleyWe've used East Valley Animal Clinic for years. They fixed up one of our dog's legs when she dislocated her ankle using cutting edge technology for the time (3D printed orthotic). They spent a lot of effort on her case and explored various options. We felt they informed us as much as possible on our decisions and answered all of our questions.
When our oldest dog got very sick suddenly, we called and explained it was urgent she be seen, and they fit her in the same day. We suspected we were going to have to put her to sleep, and they offered to do a "Quality of Life" visit with us. We got to sit down with the vet while we explained what had happened and she helped us make the very difficult decision to put her to sleep. She and the tech were very compassionate, left the decision to us, and gave us their feedback. We really just needed to know we were making the right decision, and she helped greatly with that. Despite them being very busy, we weren't rushed or made to feel as though we were under any sort of time limit to say goodbye to our dog.
We are very grateful to have them as our vet, and wouldn't take our dogs anywhere else.

Small Animal Hospital
1365 Gortner Ave, St PaulI am so thankful to have this team as my dogs primary care vet! I’ve had nothing but an amazing experience with them and their team. I enjoy the ability to go back to the room with my dog for her appointments and the team is knowledgeable and compassionate. My dog sees Dr. O’Brien who is so incredibly kind and always explains things exceptionally well. I appreciate their transparency with costs - my pup will be needing a teeth cleaning in the near future and they were very transparent with me that the cost would be higher than other vets, I believe due to them having a veterinary anesthesiologist on staff. I really appreciate the heads up and knowledge they provide. The students are phenomenal as well! I would like to at least give a heads up to those who are unfamiliar with this clinic - this is a teaching facility. The students at the UMN veterinary school gain their practice here and with that, appointments may take longer as to give the students their opportunity to learn. They are always supervised by a licensed vet who will double check anything to be certain, but the students do a fantastic job!
I’ve also utilized their urgent care/emergency care option as well (as many pet owners might have to) and it is also nothing short of amazing. My poor pup injured her back a month or two ago and they got us in mere hours later and got to the bottom of her pain right away and promptly got us her prescriptions to help her out. Not to mention, when she had to be given a shot, they took her to the back and met us in the lobby and to my surprise, she was given a UMN Vet bandana “because everyone loves her so much” which brought so much joy to me during a day filled with a lot of stress and worry.
I cannot thank this team enough for always going the extra mile. I’m thankful my dog loves going to the vet and I’m always happy to allow them to take any extra time they need to use my pup as a teaching opportunity as I bet it’s fairly uncommon to get a dog that loves the vet as much as mine.

Sole Cafe
684 MN-51, St PaulI've watched this restaurant slowly transform from a dark space with an old drinking hole vibe to its current look--bright lighting, coffee table cook books with tasteful modern ceramics, and a light-colored laminated wood bar. We stopped by for the first time in a few years. The parking lot alley is no longer lit, so we weren't sure if people still used it. In addition to the clean, modern remake, they have fancy metal dishes. The menu has also shrunk. I wanted a stew with lots of vegetables, so I ordered vegetarian tofu kimchi jjigae. My spouse ordered bulgogi. The kimchi jjigae was delicious, and hit the spot on a cold October night. I kept the leftover broth to kick up some soup I had at home. I was a bit disappointed that aside from the kimchi, the stew had only green onions and some carrot slivers as vegetables. I was hoping for more carrots, and vegetables like zucchini. My spouse's dish also had mostly onions as vegetables. The banchan was delicious, but we would have needed to order two more sets of banchan to get our fill of vegetables. To be clear, most US restaurants don't serve much vegetables, so Sole Cafe is not an outlier in that sense. Next time I will ask the server to clarify what kinds of vegetables are in the dish before ordering. They redid the bathroom, which was a nice surprise. And I believe the server is the same man from before. He was attentive and courteous as always. Glad to have Sole Cafe as a local option for Korean food.
