“Skylark is your quintessential local bookshop. I went on a Saturday morning when there was a children’s book reading in the shop’s front window to greet me as I entered. It was busy, but not crowded. The staff were kind and helpful, but provided the space for patrons to peruse leisurely. Based on my selections, at checkout, the staff suggested a book club offered at the shop each month where everyone is welcome.”

“This is the ideal form of a used bookstore. The shelves are overflowing with great reads, and the staff are super helpful if you’re looking for something specific. However, I honestly love going here to just browse. The old book smell permeates the store, and it just feels so cozy!”

“Great place to lose yourself while discovering a wide variety of books in excellent condition. Be careful not to step on a beautiful and playful grey kitty. She is very forgiving and will vocally ask for your attention and scratches. After all what is a bookstore without a resident kitty or two!Take the kids! There is a wonderful selection of vintage books for young readers and those who are young at heart. I have never seen so many Golden Books in one place. Enjoy!”

“I love the friendliness of this store, although none of their clothes are for bigger people. Free size doesn't actually fit size large or bigger. I really wish they would get some plus size clothes in the styles that they have.”

“I fancy myself a bit of a bookstore connoisseur and this place inhabits a very unique and wonderful category. If you enjoy the hunt and adding elbow grease to your browsing, you won’t mind the multiple rows of stacked books blocking other books or boxes piled up or a little bit of dust on your hands afterwards. I always walk out with some unique gems. Highly recommend. Bring cash or Venmo!”

“This is one of my favorite places in Columbia! They have everything from tarot/oracle cards, crystals, candles, books, jewelry, incense - more things to list than I can remember! It’s easy to lose yourself wandering and looking at all of the beautiful items. I usually have to take at least two laps around the store because I often miss things the first time! All of the owners and staff are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions with grace and humor. Love this store!”

“This review is for MADDY IN THE COMPUTER SECTION! She was so amazing and answered all of my questions. She even remembered me from browsing a few days prior to purchasing. I’m not tech savvy at all and she gave me advice based on her expertise with computers and experience as an MU student. 12/10 would shop again. I’m sure her coworkers are also wonderful but Maddy for the WIN.”

“Barnes & Noble is a favorite place to go for my family. I am not sure we have ever walked through without buying something. The kids section stop my wife everytime and she HAS to buy our son another book every time. They have a great selection of board games as well.”

“Interesting, comes to mind...also, the campus is spacious, and navigating is easy. Many windows allow for sunlight(even when it's cloudy); and the outside grounds are terrific- especially the pond. You would not notice this building except for the fact that it is 2 football fields long and almost as wide. Also, it is always busy; trucks in and out, people coming and going. Kind of interesting.”
