“My nephew had his engagment party here on 8/9/2026. I met with Kendra and did all the paperwork. She was amazing and very informative. The day of the event we met with Liz who went above and beyond to make this special day go so smooth for all of us. She was very nice and on top of every thing. It’s so nice to have someone be so helpful and calm during events which can get very stressful. Thank you Liz for all your help and for being so respectful and thank you Kendra for making this happen. All the staff was amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone with any event. The space was just perfect, clean and affordable.”

“They have a great fish fry here during Lent season and they actually have theirs on Good Friday as well. The fish is large and moist and they have my favorite slaw. The hush puppies / corn fritters are also good.”

“We were there for a dance competition. It's a nice facility with a good sized auditorium. The only downfall is that the lobby is small and there are not enough places to sit when you are waiting for the next performance. Tha campus itself is beautiful.”

“This venue is incredible! We hosted our son's birthday party there recently and had a wonderful experience. It is so nice to have the entire place to yourself, and the food is delicious! We loved not needing an exact count for bowling, which meant we could include families without having to ask who wanted to bowl before they arrived. The staff is so kind, helpful and easy going. The point person for planning was very responsive and helpful as well and answered all my questions and even made suggestions that helped our event run smoothly. We will book again in the future without hesitation!”

“This was the BEST hotel experience our family has ever had! Wish I could give bonus stars! By far the most comfortable bed and soft cotton bedding with down comforter, plush pillows and towels, the most incredible healthy breakfast with many gf and dairy free options! The pool and surrounding area were immaculately clean, with rolled towels around showing the wonderful attention to details that we experienced all throughout our stay! Our family of 7 appreciated being all together in the double queen with sofa sleeper room, and we all got very comfortably…and the shower was amazing with strong water pressure and a very roomy well thought out restroom! And the free parking garage was a blessing with the rain for loading and unloading with elevators from there straight up to our room floor! Can’t say enough good things, truly a gem of a place!”

The staff was friendly and professional, and the venue itself felt safe, organized, and well-managed. The lighting and sound were exceptional and gave the entire show a high-quality atmosphere. 1 minor drawback is the beverage pricing, though that is fairly standard for most live event venues. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at The Hawthorn and look forward to attending another show in the very near future.”

“We've been going here for lenten fish fries for the last three years. They always do a really great job. It's somewhat like taking a step back into the 60s or 70s, as the hall is set up with tables in rows, you stand in line to place your order and boy scouts bring it out to your table. For your drinks, you can go to the bar where they still allow smoking and people definitely take advantage of it. If you plan to go in there, don't wear anything you aren't ready to wash, as it will smell of smoke if you go into the bar. There is a door between the bar and the dining hall, so no issues with the smoke where you eat. For around $8 for your fish plate with three pieces of fish and two sides plus $1 drafts that include Amber Bock or canned sodas for $1, it's a great nostalgic place to go. It's also a good family atmosphere. If someone wants dessert, there are plenty of options that appear to be home-made selections, though we've never had room after the fish and a couple of beers. This is definitely a great place for some great fish during lent. They serve until 7:30p, so if you are cutting it close on time for one of the churches that stop at 7:00, the VFW buys you another half hour. Definitely worth the trip.”

“Since the hotel is located in a safe area, we walked to dinner. There are various kinds of restaurants nearby. Our main purpose was to visit WashU, and the hotel had very convenient access to the school. It was also easy to get from the parking lot to the hotel. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower had a panel for adjusting the temperature and good water pressure. Breakfast included fresh omelets and waffles, and the coffee was delicious. The food was replenished frequently. We chose this hotel based on reviews, and we truly felt it offered great value for the price.”

“My daughter had her birthday here and honestly, it was ALOT of fun!! They give each kid a 40 credit card to use. Lots of fun games. For $140ish, it came with food, 2 hours of bowling, a soda pitcher and additional things. Very reasonable in cost and I will definitely come back. Staff is attentive and easy to talk to. They also give a pin that can be signed. The cards also come with 500 tickets to cash in. Great time! 10 out of 10!!! My daughter was very happy with her birthday.”
