“There are many reasons I recommend living at RM West, but two stand out above the rest—and they’re both people.

1. Carlos (Maintenance)
If Carlos is around, you’ve got nothing to worry about. I truly believe he can fix anything, and when he does have to fix something, he does it quickly and with a smile. His skills and attitude are not something you encounter often.

2. Megan (Leasing Office)
Megan is the bread and butter of RM West. She’s incredibly kind, approachable, and genuinely committed to helping residents. Her presence makes even the most inconvenient situations feel manageable.

Together, these two create a sense of comfort and reliability that makes living at RM West feel like the right decision.

Beyond these two amazing individuals, here are a few more reasons I believe RM West is a great place to live:
The Gym: Clean, spacious, and equipped with a wide variety of machines.
The Pool: Great vibes, plenty of lounge chairs, a grill, and well-maintained.
The Apartments: Clean, spacious (depending on the floor plan), and well-kept.
Parking: Free street parking, or secure garage parking for a fee.
Safety: A police officer patrols nightly, key fobs are the only way to enter buildings, and the area experiences significantly less crime than other parts of DT KC (IMHO).
Location: Right next to the river, street car, and the farmers market (what else could you need).

While RM West has many great qualities, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
It’s a large company: Big businesses will do what's best for their business with little consideration for the common tenant.
Monthly fees: There are several recurring charges—such as trash service, a credit support fee, and a $5 utility charge. While some of these are optional, and all serve a purpose, they definitely add up.

Bottom line:
If Carlos and Megan are still part of the team, you’re in excellent hands at RM West. Their presence truly elevates the experience. If they’re not, just be aware that you’re dealing with a large corporation that may not always prioritize the resident experience.”

“I lived at Stuart Hall for four years and absolutely LOVED it. I lived in three different units during my time here and all three were at different price points but were still the best value for the neighborhood. I spent my last year in one of the two story 2b/2ba units on the 6th floor and it was my favorite place I've ever lived. It got so much natural light and was so spacious--it was very hard to give up! These lofts are true brutalist/industrial style lofts, and are some of the largest units in the neighborhood. The building is also a well known historic building in KCMO with a storied past (it was originally a factory for Nabisco) which is really cool. Downtown living in KC comes with a lot of good and a lot of bad, but the management truly does their best to keep Stuart Hall safe and clean. Jonathan, the property manager, goes above and beyond to create a real community at Stuart Hall and really cares about the tenants. Every issue I had was resolved as quickly as possible. I relocated to Chicago or else I'd still be living there!”

“I was very disappointed with the last place I lived and was very skeptical that the reviews were too good to be true here. I have was pleasantly surprised that they were true. I find it amazing that one person (BJ) can run this whole place by himself and keep it running as smoothly as he does. I understand that won't always be first in line when I have a maintenance issue but it always gets taken care of in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice peaceful place to live.”

“Lots of cool businesses in things to check out but it was Stone Cold confusing to navigate with the building having been chopped up. If the first floor all did one thing and the second floor all did one thing and the third floor all did one other thing then that would make sense to me anyway. But it's not quite like that and I don't smell the bread so I was just confused but we got there in the end. Got to stay positive”

“I moved into 909 Walnut over two months ago. When we were initially shopping for a new home we had a great initial specialist. Dennis ( who now works for a different property with the same ownership group ) was very helpful and patient. I am very detailed ( high maintenance ) and we had several follow-ups as we got everything ready to move in. When we were comparing the cost to other properties, we were very happy with the amenities and the luxury that 909 offers. My Roommate never wants to close the blinds because we LOVE our view.

There are several on site full time maintenance staff members who are very helpful and responsive. I have had several maintenance requests that are always followed up on the same day or next day. When they have to use a contractor ( for the air conditioning unit ) they make sure that I am aware of the progress and make sure that the repair is taken care of.

I have a storage unit that I feel is secure. The building has several security measures ( elevator access, residential unit access, rooftop access, gym access, parking garage access ) to make sure that only residents ( who all pass a background check ) are able to access. When I have followed up with the building staff, they are all very helpful. The building is owned by a local investment Firm. The company is diversified and I love that the majority of the investors are local ( and if I had extra money, I would seriously consider becoming one of them ). The other reviews mention people that are no longer with this property.

I love that our heating and cooling is building wide. This has led to lower electricity & water bills, than I have experienced in lesser buildings. I also know that this system is more environmentally friendly and more efficient. I still adjust my thermostat when I leave because the more it runs, the more I pay in electricity and the more that it costs the building. The building also recycles, composts, and has electric charging stations in the garage.

909 offers high end condo amenities at the best price downtown. The Rooftop ( on top of the parking garage ) has real grass, trees, and flowers. The basement gym has all the basic equipment, plenty of cardio, and a yoga room. The lobby lounge is large and inviting and the basement lounge is intimate and usually vacant. We signed a 9 month lease, ( we were /are planning on buying a house next year ) but that will probably be renewed in a few months as we are very comfortable and happy living here.”

“I signed a lease Feb of 2024. I can visualize how beautiful this complex must have been when first built. Beautifully landscaped, a walking trail, pet park and other amenities. My understanding is that certain portions of the exterior building were improperly built causing water issues.

When I looked at the complex in feb. it looked terrible on the outside.
Lots of siding missing, large equipment parked, downspouts and railings on the ground, boarded up balconies and some sidewalks destroyed. But when shown the interior, I was pleasantly surprised. Stainless steel appliances, built in bookshelves, a great fireplace, washer/dryer hook ups, and granite counter tops. I chose a fourth floor unit (has elevator) with an awesome view off the deck, My place was spotless when I moved in. Perfect.

I was assured the construction would be completed in a few months. Since then, in three months, the work has come a long, long way. And this place is slowly coming back!

The location is ideal for getting anywhere you need to go. Liberty, KC, Gladstone, Smithville, Zona Rosa.... The lay out of the apartment is very practical and not your typical apartment footprint.. The only draw back is limited storage, but I have creatively solved that with using furniture with drawers, and under bed storage.
Yes, some of the amenities are not up and running, but I feel those will come in time once the vacancy rate goes up, which it will! Its too nice of a place not to be full.

Maintenance and management go out of their way to accomodate. The ongoing construction is annoying, but it will be over soon. I m sure the property owners will continue to improve on the amenities to keep this place full. If it werent for the construction going on, and some of the non functioning amenities, I would give this place a five star rating.”
