“While riding the Katy Trail, my buddy Luke and I decided to do an early dinner (around 4:45 pm) at Rocheport General Store....they were closed and while we were chatting with a local about other restaurants, a lady came out and advised us they opened at 5 pm but we needed reservations. So the earliest we could dine would be 6:45. We made the reservation and returned at 6:40. We were shown 2 tables and told pick which one we preferred. After a very short time, a very sweet lady came over and took our drink orders. Luke had a Black Lager and i had a Woodford Reserve and Coke. He enjoyed the lager and my drink was very well made. Luke chose the Grilled Porkchop with berry compote, mashed potatos and asparagus. I went with the shrimp and lobster ravioli. Folks, i gotta admit, this was off the chain high end servings. Luke raved over the chop saying it was the best restaurant chop he had ever had. I made the same statement over my ravioli....shrimp perfectly cooked and probably the freshest tasting shrimp I have had in many years. This establishment may not have the outward appearance of fine dining, and servers are running like crazy to meet all the customers needs, but dont be fooled....this is a must hit when visiting Rocheport. Price is surprisingly lower than expected for the food quality provided. I strongly recommend Rocheport General Store to anyone! One last thing, the service provided, the attitude, the time taken to ensure a great experience for the customer provided by a retired school teacher was very much appreciated. I hope Rocheport General Store realizes the value she provides. Exceptional food, great service, and unbelievable prices for the quality.”
