“My family and I have been parish members from day 1. (50 years). While the church was being built masses were held in the gym at Sandoz Elementary next door....Archbishop Sheehan ordered a new parish for Southwest Omaha because Mary Our Queen wasn't large enough to handle everyone anymore. Father Pat (McCaslin)was the second priest after Father Schwab retired. Father Pat, since retired has been our "family priest" ever since his days at St. Therese's in NE Omaha. The parish closed about 10 years ago. We would sometimes have family masses in my grandparents home. Family members could just walk in their home.....Even Father Pat just walked in. Just an FYI.....Mass times have changed. Weekday masses are still at 9 am. Weekend masses are a 5:30 pm vigil on Saturday's, 7:30 and 10:30 am on Sunday's.....”

“As a Catholic not from around here, I was full of trepidation going to a new church thinking I might not fit in or my local practices aren't reflected here, but I was wrong. This church is very warm and accepting, and I feel at ease attending here. I always visit every Sunday at their 5:30 pm mass, and it's always worth the drive.”

“Most people probably don't know that if you call their number you can actually get yourself a nice food pantry especially if you need help. Yes you can only do it once every couple months but it's worth it if you need the help Just leave a voicemail and they'll get back.”

“Just happened upon this gorgeous brand new Church on “opening day” ? passed it because gps was not quite updated, but it was well worth it. Got the story of St.Patricks and the Catholic immigrant families of Omaha that started it all! Usually we attend Mass in older Cathedrals, so this was definitely a modern treat, there was a lot to look at! But more importantly, the Mass and message was ?it was so fun to be a part of firsts at that location!! ??”

“Loved this church. Wish I'd found it sooner. Once I did, I went 4 days in a row, till I had to leave town. Masses were great!! They had a 6:30 Mass that was perfect for me!!”

“My husband and I were married in the Chapel there in 1983 and one of my sons was baptized there, too. I loved it then and I love it now. The people I've met now are all so good and kind, especially Fr. Vitalis who I find very Christlike. He spent an hour with me at my house giving me the Annointing of the Sick and the Holy Eucharist and I feel so much better now. What he writes in every Sunday bulletin, I believe, tells you how close he is to Christ and I am very grateful to know him. Also, he smiled most of the time that he visited me. He's a very good, friendly and holy priest and I thank God for him.”

“With the approval of the local Archbishop, St Thomas Moore's 4:30 PM mass on Sunday afternoon (confession from 4-4:25) satisfies Subday obligation.
This is great for those who work weekend days, have been traveling, or whose kids have morning ball tournaments. It is also great for Military reservists or National Guard troops.”

“My mom is going to the 4PM Christmas Eve mass. She is in from out of town, so we did dry run on how to get there. We found where the chapel was, and the spill over area, if needed.

It was beautiful!

I know my fellow Catholics and all people in general will be welcoming, and nonjudgmental about someone, not from this city, taking up a space in the pew.

Ask yourself: Why did I just turn my nose up at that person? Then reflect on why you have disdain for that a person.”

“St. Adalberts is a small Catholic chuch tucked away in the Hanscom Park neighborhood. I had the opportunity to visit this past weekend at the Omaha Restoration Exchange's Hanscom Park Neighborhood Tour. Built in 1918, the parish originally served Czech immigrants. These days, it has merged with the Our Lady of Lourdes parish and serves the neighborhood as well as Korean Catholics. It is also known as St. Andrew Kim Catholic Community and holds Sunday mass at 11:30am in Korean by Father Paul Oh. There is a school building attached which is currently vacant.”

“Great fish fry! Line is inside the building. No outside drinks allowed. There are beer, wine and spritzers for sale throughout the line. Food options include fried or baked fish, Mac & cheese, coleslaw, fries, and bread. Plenty of tarter sauce, vinegar, ketchup, and other sauces available. The breading on the fried fish is a corn meal breading and was super good! I am craving it as I write! However, some of my pieces were pretty crisp because the fish was too think or overcooked. Most of the group had pretty good fish thickness though. One of us got the baked fish and she did like it. The mac and cheese and coleslaw were both really good too! Overall a great meal! It was $14 and they only take cash.”
