“My kids grew up outside this store with staff being better than family at times being gone for 2 years and Chuckie knew my daughters voice over the phone ❤️ he knew every kid’s favourite and helped any parent in need. Never in all my years did I pay more for something there than in a grocery store. A place that seriously focuses on the neighborhood it’s in and the children in said neighborhood. Best corner store in all of canada I would say, I’ve been to lots from coast to coast and never in my travels have I come across anything even close to the feel of family and respect that this place gives an entire community on a daily basis.”

I've always had good experiences here; Staff are quick and courteous and store is kept clean. M&M Foods on site and Shell gas and inside, pretty much everything and anything you'd want. Air Miles too.”

“Sun Ray has been my go to store for almost 2 decades. Up until about a year and a half ago, I have always lived within about 2 maybe three blocks from Sun Ray. The store has just recently changed ownership. I have not met the new owner. The day staff are new. The one constant tho is my friend Paul is still holding down the evening shift. I'm pretty sure he has been there since day one, a true grass roots employee. Since I do not live in the Waterloo Village anymore I don't frequent the store nearly as much as in the past. The one thing that I do make sure of tho is, in the evenings when I'm up in the Village is I make a point if going in get a coffee and the Pro-Line list and chew the fat with Paul. He makes Sun Ray Variety the kind of neighborhood convenience store that you want to go into, friendly, knowledgeable about the inventory, type of person that makes you smile and laugh. So if your down around the Village in the evening and need something from the store stop in say hi. He makes it feel like how going to your neighborhood store use to be like when the world wasn't so messed up like it is today. Least that's how I see it.”

The people that run this establishment, combined with the amazing prices(most items cheaper than grocery stores, some items almost match chain grocery sale prices), make it worth the stop. The other people leaving one star reviews here clearly have ill-will towards the business, as I've never seen an expired item in the store. Keep up the amazing work guys!”

“Super convenient spot. A selection of groceries like eggs, butter, milk, fruits and veg, and household goods. Serve hot coffee for cheap. Store clerks are always really friendly and are open until late. Debit or cash (credit has a fee) and they can provide cash back which is great because the nearest ATM is further toward the centre of uptown. This is a go-to for many living in the area.”

“I’ve started passing by Prashad’s since we’ve moved to the area and been meaning to stop in to see what they had. So happy I did today! Lots of spices to choose from, but I was thrilled to find their prepared curry freezer and took a couple home (delicious). But the samosas! The owner spent a few minutes preparing them so they were fresh and they were the best samosas I’ve ever had; crispy but not too doughy and thick, stuffed full of potato, pea and amazing sauce. Highly recommend and so glad it’s on my regular route!”
