“I have extremely weird feet. My heel is super skinny, but my toe box is very wide. It makes finding shoes a very daunting task, and yet I seem to always find something at Reds! The staff is always very helpful. Today someone recommended a pair of Altras which are a zero drop and have a wide toe box. I haven't found a shoe that fits so good in YEARS! (Because I don't live anywhere near a Reds anymore, lol) I've tried REI, Scheels, and other stores "known for their wide selection of shoes" and none can even remotely compete with the selection offered at Reds. Even my grandmother, who developed severe arthritis in her feet before passing, seemed to always manage to find a shoe that fit at Reds thanks to their availability of double-wide options. I'm thrilled to see that despite the economic difficulties placed on stores right now that Reds is still true to their name.”

“I have been shopping at DXL for well over 20 years, always a good experience and you can actually find cloths for someone that is both big and tall. At 6'4" I have trouble finding things long enough in the body and arms normally but usually able to solve those issues at DXL. Certainly sign up for their purchasing club it does pay you back in discounts on future purchases and sends other random discounts throughout the year.”

“I have seldom visited this location. During our visit there today we were surprised to have been helped by an employee who was helpful regarding an inquiry we had. We visited several other shoe store locations looking for a certain style shoe, and upon visiting here we didn't see the style. The employee looked to see if they had one online and they didn't. We purchased two pair of different shoes and were glad to have had a flyer received in the mail that was useful at the visit, approximately $20 off our purchase; that was great! The Rockports I am wearing were purchased today and are very comfortable!!”

“This is one of my favorite outlet stores in Maine.They have a good sized assortment of clothing that is marked down to very reasonable prices.The last time I was in there I looked around for a while and saw three beautiful tops so I went ahead and tried them on. I was only going to take one of them since I was planning on going to a few other outlet stores in the area and did not want to spend all of my money in one place.They were all so nice that it was hard to pick but I thought about what I had at home for bottoms and accessories to go with the tops and finally I decided on a winner. The store was neatly organized and it was fun to browse what they had in stock.The signage on the clothing displays clearly showed any discounts available on the items.The sales floor and fitting rooms were spotless and I could tell that the store is well taken care of by the employees.The clerk at the cashier station was pleasant to deal with and I was satisfied with the service that I received.I will make it a point to come back to this store the next time I am in Maine doing some outlet shopping.”

Every time I have come in I have been treated with kindness and courtesy. The staff have been helpful, and the owner has been an absolute gem. Tonight I had an issue with a pair of boots I bought last winter (minor manufacturers defect) ,the owner made it right without hesitation. He was so kind and personable. “I am a regular reseller at Plato's and just want to give these hard working gals at Plato's Portsmouth a good review after stumbling upon these reviews! There is a learning curve to selling at Plato's. They want clothes that appeal to their audience which is very young. I see so many offended sellers in these reviews and I feel like in some cases, there is a simple misunderstanding of the business model here. The store is full of teenaged shoppers. They will buy an oversized sweatshirt from American Eagle over a high end cashmere sweater...because that is what sells there. lululemon items are like gold. There doesn't need to be judgement added to what they take or don't take. Bring higher end items to a higher end consignment shop. A lot of times, when there is overstock in a particular size, they will ask you to bring the items back next time. I always check the store's instagram story before bringing in items. I try my best to bring in items that were in stores within the past 3 years. Many brands have the season and year on the inside tag, not the size tag at the top but the other tag within the body of the garment. The store is constantly needing to adjust hours due to being understaffed. The staff that stays works hard. I find the staff to almost always be lovely, especially the staff that has been there for a long time. As a regular in the store I can say I see on almost every visit a hopeful seller coming in who is completely clueless to the process there and they often get snippy with the staff simply because as consumers they didn't have an understanding of how things work there even when the staff member is politely explaining things for what could be the 20th time that day. I can see where that could be hard to deal with especially for the youngest staff members there. I love selling and shopping for my teens at Plato's Portsmouth!”
