“I love this store. They have a lot of unique items that I don't see in other grocery stores. Definetly worth checking out. I make a 25 min trio once a month to stock up, especially cookies”
“Nice place to get everything you need, they run specials every week. You can call and check for snacks, chai, samosas, sugarcane juice. The store manager is super sweet and kind. Love our trips here.”
“Less than a mile from Kings sits Bishop’s, quietly proving that two grocery stores can exist in the same town while operating in entirely different financial universes.
Bishop’s used to be family owned, and even though it’s now part of a chain, it still feels like the kind of neighborhood grocery where someone might know your name… or at least remember your usual deli order.
The store isn’t huge, but it’s well stocked in a way that suggests someone actually thought about what people in the area buy. You won’t find twenty-seven varieties of artisanal quinoa imported from a Scandinavian monastery, but you will find the things you actually need.
And here’s the big difference compared with its nearby neighbor.
The prices at Bishop’s do not require a consultation with your financial advisor.
They’re not bargain basement cheap, but they’re noticeably lower than Kings down the road. It’s the kind of place where you can fill a basket without quietly wondering if you should have refinanced the house first.
The deli is excellent. Properly run, good meats, good sandwiches, and the sense that they take it seriously without making a theatrical production out of it.
The fried chicken deserves special recognition.
Shockingly good. The kind of fried chicken that makes you pause mid-bite and reconsider your entire dinner plan for the evening. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely capable of derailing any sensible meal prep intentions you had when you walked in.
The cheese selection is good, though not as extensive as Kings. You won’t find quite the same international cheese diplomacy happening in the dairy case, but what’s there is solid.
The real sleeper hit is the store-cured bacon. Excellent flavor, nicely done, and very capable of upgrading a Saturday morning breakfast from “normal” to “we should do this more often.”
Overall, Bishop’s feels like the practical sibling in the family.
Kings is the fancy cousin who shows up wearing linen and talking about olive oil regions.
Bishop’s is the one who says, “Yeah that’s nice… but we also have great fried chicken and you can still afford gas on the way home.”
A very good neighborhood grocery store.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.”
“I wasn't aware of this store in Hackettstown. It has a variety of Latin American products from Mexico, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Africa. The attendant is very friendly. Go inside and see what they have for you.”
“Our favorite local supermarket for the best seafood. We know its layout and can get in and out rapidly. Really wish they had more checkout lines open. Often there is only one , possibly two and a bunch of self checkout stations. The store is clean. The staff is friendly and will help you find items that seem to be 'hiding.' Lots of variety in the brands carried as well.”
“The crew is so helpful in finding items.
The store is very clean and organized.
Groceries never disappoint, they always have what we are looking for. Always! Multiples options.
Last time shopping there, I was scanning in the self checkout and an employee gave a gorgeous rose to my husband give to me, behind my back.
It torn out so funny and romantic with my husband and I laughing because minutes ago at the entrance we saw flowers and I said “it’s been a long time since you gave me flowers.” Absolutely adorable gesture from Weis and made me happy for days!”
“Nice guy at register named Louis. Looks like he has not found his purpose in life. I hope he does soon. Interesting hot peppers. Great honey dew. Be fun to hike the lake near by. No, I did not try them, but maybe you should. Places I would have gone are shown in pics.”
“It's hard to share everything about a supermarket.
But the fresh foods are delicious.
And this chocolate milk beats the brakes off of anything else I've bought.
Weis in mansfield is fantastic from products, to staff, to prices.”
“Marique was so helpful on my visit to ShopRite. He went out of his way to help you get my favorite flavor of a drink that was only in the back of the store. Nice guy and a hard worker.”
“Although some people came across a bit rude, the Walmart in Hackettstown is pretty solid when it comes to its selection and modernity. It has improved a lot since the past.”
“Just have to shout out El Pachecking in Washington — such a special local spot! Their products from Costa Rica are always top quality and hard to find elsewhere. And honestly, their avocados are unmatched — always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly ripe.
If you love authentic ingredients and supporting a business that truly cares about what they offer, this place is 100% worth checking out. So glad we have them in town!”
“I’m a frequent customer and shop here weekly. I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the workers. The young school kids are the ones that make the shopping trip great though! I enjoy the self checkout, and I think it’s adorable when they offer my daughter stickers! I’m happy finding deals and my daughter is happy with her stickers! Win win!”
“I love Greens! I work in the same Plaza and I am there almost every day whether it's for a quick bite, groceries, treats for the ladies at my gym or just to say hi...it's always a pleasure! Robyn, Sally Jo and Marie are all fantastic and always so pleasant.”
“I had ordered a cake for my sons 4th birthday yesterday and not only was the design perfect the cake also tasted amazing. I was also very pleased that the cake was ready for pick up an hour before my pickup window which meant there was no wait time. The women at the counter who also grabbed my cake upon arrival was nice and accommodating. All my son wanted for his birthday was a lightening McQueen birthday cake and was happy with the help of Walmart he was able to receive it.”
“Staff is good and helpful though not always readily available to get beauty supplies, knives or jewelry out of the cases, or fabric cut.
Prices are very good and meats are good if used promptly”
“Just wanted to say thank you for the truly amazing Crown of American Lamb we had for Easter.Without a doubt the best we've ever had and that includes English Romney Lamb and Scottish Borders Lamb and Welsh Lamb when we lived there. Thanks again.Douglas and Margaret”
“Got the spicy chicken sandwich and fries and both were really good. The sandwich was crispy and flavorful, and the fries were fresh.. Everything came out fast and the staff were very polite and welcoming. I'll definitely order from here again.”
“Dr. Todaro is one of the most intelligent, articulate, and patient pharmacists I have ever worked with. He answers questions with compassion and clarity. Absolutely amazing
I was visiting from out of town and had questions about over-the-counter meds for my children. I can't explain it. He just gave me the confidence in his input.. Most importantly, his suggestions and knowledge about the meds I needed for my kids, was accurate and true”
“Shop Rite Flanders Bakery designed the most creative woodland themed baby shower cake. I provided the character cutouts but the artistic design of cake was completely developed by the bakery team. It totally exceeded my expectations and it received compliments from everyone at the shower. Thank you for making a special day even more perfect!”
“Sometimes you find a real bodega that is a winner, and this is one of them. Accommodating with regular needs, snacks, basics and alcohol but most importantly the prepared foods/deli section up front. My husband and I make it a point almost every weekend to get breakfast sandwiches, on the best kaiser rolls! The macaroni salad is so good. Highly recommend to stop in and check out that front case if you're in the area.”
“I am happy to have found the store. The fruits and vegetables are fresh, they look good. The store is small but it’s clean they have a lot of options. The prices are extremely reasonable; I found a handful of items cheaper than Walmart. The people working are helpful and very polite. Great service I will definitely be going back often.”
“This Target is a very big store. I love that they have a big grocery dept in it. It has become a very convenient place to go to for one stop shopping for pharmacy needs to clothing & shoes to stop and get milk, bread, produce and other groceries to tide me over. The parking area is very big and plenty of room. It's easy to get in & out of. It's a perfect location.”
“This is a very large, super ShopRite. The store is always busy and is well stocked. If you can't find it here, you don't need it. It is easily accessible from Route 31 South of Washington and has a huge parking lot for their customers. I have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.”

“It’s way better now the mean guy who used to work here doesn’t work here anymore a newer nice guy works there they have a lot more stuff then they did before they have tape pencils hell they even got empty tapes so 5 stars”
“This is always a great place to shop! Fantastic products and friendly employees who are constantly making sure you're finding what you need. They've been undergoing a big remodel and I'm so excited to see what they've done! I've been told that there will be a much larger fresh and frozen food section and new registers as well! Can't wait to go in tomorrow when they reopen!”
“This shoprite is cleanest shoprite I have ever seen.
Also if you are for plants or flowers they an abundance of both, and they are a lot cheaper then Nursery.”
“Truly a step back in time. The whole idea of small-town America is perfectly encapsulated in places such as adorable Califon in rural Hunterdon County, New Jersey, which has the unique distinction of being the physical inspiration behind the setting of the 1946 Christmas classic, “It’s a wonderful life”. In the heart of Califon is Rambo’s, a truly vintage general store, delicatessen, and butcher shop. I’m not sure exactly how old it is, probably at least as old as my paternal grandfather, who would be 98 today. I’ve tried their 2 most popular sandwiches, the pastrami on rye with Swiss and the Italian hoagie, both were delicious. I bought some of their hand cut lamb loin chops, they turned out excellent with a jerk spice rub they sell. I’m very much looking forward to trying out their house made Italian sausage I got stored in the freezer. The store staff and managers/owners are very kind and welcoming and I am happy to support an awesome and storied local small business. I’m definitely planning on coming back here on a semi-routinely manner, perhaps even on a biking trip on the nearby Columbia trail in the future.”
