“A hidden gem for book lovers! 📚
The Book Trader is a great spot with an amazing selection, ranging from timeless classics to contemporary books and even textbooks.
For those unfamiliar with how secondhand bookstores work, it might seem a bit cluttered at first glance. However, everything is actually well-organized on specific shelves by genre. If you ever feel lost, the lady who runs the place is super sweet and always ready to help.
It's a wonderful place to hunt for countless titles—just bring some time, patience, and enjoy the process!”
“Love this Store and the Staff is helpful and friendly. Bibles to Communion elements and most things in-between. You'll find what you need. Large Bible selections. Visit often”
“The staff here are always kind and courteous, but allow you to browse in peace which I appreciate. I can easily spend hours here every time I come. I love how their stock is always updating with “new” old books to look at every visit. I especially love their selection of the 25 cent Dell Agatha Christie selection and have been able to build my own person collection from purchasing them here. Their books are always very well priced and there are so many gems on their shelves. Now that I’ve graduated from Drew, I don’t get to go as often as I’d like, but they were wonderfully in walking distance of the university”
“Source of Knowledge is more than a bookstore; it’s a cultural pillar in Newark and a place of empowerment for our community. They provide powerful books that educate, inspire, and connect our youth and people to history, identity, leadership, and growth.
In a time where positive spaces like this are needed more than ever, Source of Knowledge continues to uplift the black community through education and representation. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about helping people learn and grow.
If you care about supporting Black-owned businesses, educating the next generation, and investing in culture and knowledge, this is a place you need to visit.”
“Great store!! But if you’re here to work on your computer, there are no outlets. I suggest going to the Edison public library right down the block instead, otherwise great store”

“Joe, the owner of the bookstore, is so friendly and personable. He made my shopping experience with my fiance such a pleasure. I cannot wait to come back and browse more of his book selection.”
“Absolutely my favorite store. Really nicely designed. Super clean everyone is friendly. The worst thing is there is no mobile service in there. Which is not actually a problem imo.”
“Loved this bookstore, it is filled with God's presence and everything in this place is full of His peace. Mariana is such an amazing owner and person. Super friendly and easy to find!”

“It’s a nice little bookstore. Half the store seems dedicated to kids and kids books, so lots of good gifting opportunities if there are little ones in your life.
Good selection of new releases for adults.”
“An Amazing literacy based organization. Their phenomenal services which provide academic literacy programming for children and young adults. Book ready by design and creative resources. Check them ok!!!”
“I like this student store they hold items for my wife when she orders. They should have a bigger selection of student sports wear, like jackets, hoodies, sizes 2XL to 3XL.
but they need to get better materials like 100% cotton sweats joggers & shirts more often. They're have snacks and a small variety of headphones, but they are a little more pricier students should have better deals. If you get a headache or cramps, they have Tylenol or advil for students. The little Bodega of Essex County is what I call it lol. They should have more cold drinks. I give it a 7 out of 10.”
“Stocks a really nice selection of comic books. Besides the mainstream titles, a lot of indie stuff. Features a great selection of graphic novels and an added bonus; because it's attached to the Kubert comic book artist school, You can get a all your comic art supplies in one store!..”

“Thank you for hosting my brother in law's book signing, we had a wonderful afternoon in your fabulous bookstore! So many great things to buy, for myself and for gifts. The coffee was definitely the best I've had out in a long time. The owners are great!! Hope to be back soon for another visit!”
“This place is amazing! So cozy and the owner, Lauren is friendly and was lovely to chat with for a moment :) Have their own little children’s nook and a great selection of new finds. I love ‘bookstore hopping’ whenever I go somewhere new and this is one I’ll be going back to! Just a great environment and it’s clear they care about the community and have wonderful ethics. <3”
“i love it here, its very welcoming and clean. it looks like theres a strong community because whenever i walk in, theres always some kind of event which is nice to see in a bookstore. wide selection of books, music, and games! fun to look around and enjoy the place. the employees are nice and always willing to chat for a few :)”
“Amazing quality apparel at a nice discounted price! Very friendly customer service too. Drew University is great! So appreciative for it. Learned a ton, made a lot of good friends, and took away many great memories. Like a home away from home.”
“I absolutely LOVE this place. As an avid booktoker with a large following, this local bookstore can feed me with great books for myself and my platform! Let’s build the book community together! #WeAreBooktok”

“I love the store!! They are fully stocked with everything you need. I was very impressed by the stock and organization. The employee that rang up my purchases was kind, efficient, and professional.”
“Prices are high on basic goods as expected and the variety of brands per object is limited. Again, being a campus book store, this is expected. Oddly, they don't have basic necessities like milk, laundry detergent, or bleach (3rd is understandable).”
“Overall the library manager and the assistant manager are great workers, very respectable, knowledgeable and hard-working. But the student body needs to be more sympathetic when it comes to technical system glitches/errors and not lose their patience with the bookstore workers for these inconveniences. Treat these great workers with respect and politeness and they will be able to provide you with great customer service.”
“Great place to study, located right on college ave. Only thing is that sometimes people come in and play really loud videos on their phones and sleep, which can be distracting and disturb anyone who goes there to study.. also, there’s sometimes customer service representatives who talk very loud and laugh, giggle and chatter during their shifts, that’s fine but if I can hear people laughing and I’m all the way at the end of the upstairs room, that’s being a bit excessive on the noise level, ladies! they have a cafe downstairs with coffees and drinks and snacks and sandwiches.
The bathrooms, at least the women’s bathrooms, are semi-clean. They don’t clean them often, from what I can tell; it seems like every time I go in there there’s toilet paper in the room, unflushed toilets and once I saw some menstrual blood on one of the seats.
They offer free WiFi, the speed is suitable for normal computer usage.
They have a huge selection of Rutgers apparel, but it’s very expensive.. $70 for a pair of red leggings with the Rutgers logo, way too expensive for some people. However, the quality is very nice, everything is Champion or just a very thick, nice fabric.
Overall, it’s a great place to hang around and study, just be mindful of people who use this space to study and courteous to everyone who uses this space.”

“Certain workers are kinda rude, but most were pretty nice. Edit It's nice to see a reply. I've added a star. The sitaution was that it was my first time in the bookstore and I walked up to the register to ask where the line started. Before I even got my first scentence out I way yelled at for cutting the line, which was Ironic. The worker said this loud enough to try to shame me I guess? As a suggestion, it would be nice if the line was down the center of the store, which seems to be the more intuitive setup. Better yet, it could be parrallel to the front. Regaurdless, thankyou.”

“This bookstore is a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Metuchen. Sure, the place could use a bit of an update and clean, but that's the charm of a used bookstore. The vast range of all genres of books is incredible, you can tell the owner has been collecting for years. Speaking of the owner, he is extremely knowledgeable, very welcoming, and always helpful. He engages in conversation if asked a question, and has been nothing but warm and hospitable. Excited to come back and explore more!”
“i'm in the C terminal waiting for my flight. the book store is, pardon the cliche, the eye of calm in the storm. The books are a stunning collection - awesomely creepy kids books to enthrall the pre-teen crowd, graphic novels, books about POC, books by POC, international authors, and something for every reader. Books in spanish -- from fiction to true crime-- gorgeous travelogues. Strong POC focused collection. An inspirational reading section Grandmother B would love -- Granmere V would go for the crosswords. My tastes are eclectic and well matched by this lively oasis, but even my dad (conservative and non-fiction reader) would appreciate the multiple standing shelves of biography, history, and business. If they had coffee, I'd spend my entire layover here. Oh, wait, let me hit the espresso stand around the corner and come back...”
“I had an easy time here. As soon as I walked in a team member guided me in the right direction. The book info desk was decent I asked for all the books on my course list and for some reason they kept asking if I would buy everything even after I already said I would. But no big deal. The supply section also had everything I needed to start my semester. The cashier was also great and helpful. Last but not least the 50 percent off holiday books in the new year was great too!”
“Unique source for old law books, reprints of classic legal treatises, and a variety of other law-related publications. Great materials. Greg (the founder) and the staff are knowledgeable, professional, and helpful.”
