Pet Stores & Supplies

Petco
780 Rte 3 West, CliftonVery pleased with this location at first , I’m not going to lie I doubted this store. My first impression wasn't to good, we where just stoping by to look at tank sizes for an axelotl we plan on buying. As we continued I was so amazed at their selection of animals compared to pet smart locations , it went from where looking to my daughter getting a beta , but I was amazed with their selection saltwater fish. As we gathered the beta stuff we would need I noticed a beginners salt water tank and immediately started asking questions, the guy that helped me which I will get his name he completely dedicated his time and helped me get everything I would need to start my first salt water tank and I even signed up for the monthly plan they have , I will be coming back more often :)

Bows N Paws Pet Studio
270 Colfax Ave, CliftonBrought my toy poodle in for a full grooming service and I couldn’t be happier. As you can imagine going to a new groomer isn’t so easy but as I was dropping my pup off the owner made me feel so comfortable assuring me he was in good hands, & he was ! The cut was exactly what I asked for and I couldn’t be happier. I think Teddy was satisfied with his new cut as well. Thank you !

Foofie Poochies
560 Clifton Ave, CliftonFoofie Poochies is a excellent grooming salon. The shop is very clean, Dogs are well taken care of. I have been taking my dogs there for over 8 years. The owner makes sure all dogs are up to date on shots, (so you don't have to worry about your dog catching something), is very comforting to your dog when it enters to take away any fears you or your pet has, this I have seen first hand many times. They will make you aware of anything they suspect on your pet. My dog had a tick once and the owner even gave me the tick in the bag in case I wanted to have it checked. I have recommended friends to Foofie Poochies because I feel they are a very good grooming salon and are knowledgeable in grooming any type of dog. Also, if your dog has a health issue, the owner is extremely considerate in working with your pet, I have a dog with a health issue and she watches my buddy very closely making sure he is ok. One thing, they do stress you honor your appointment or at least let them know in a timely manner if you have to cancel. That is just common courtesy. I trust them completely!

Foofie Poochies
508 5th Street, HobokenI’ve been getting my dog groomed for 13 years and this is the best groomer I’ve been to. I’ve been nervous about safe, gentle grooming since he’s gotten older and had neck issues, and she makes me feel so comfortable leaving him with her. He always comes out with exactly the cut I asked for and more importantly, seems in great spirits.

Clips N' Snips
51 Valley Rd, CliftonI’ve been bringing my two dogs, Lily and Coco, to Clips n Snips for grooming, and I’m always impressed with the results. The staff is incredibly attentive and makes sure both dogs are comfortable throughout the process. Lily and Coco always leave looking amazing—whether it’s a simple trim or a full grooming session, their coats are soft and perfectly styled. The team truly cares about each pet and their specific needs, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional and reliable grooming services

Valley Animal Rehabilitation
1171 Valley Rd, CliftonThis is a place that treats your pets with care and attention. I especially appreciate their welcoming environment for large breeds. My dog mainly sees Kelly for PT, and she is astounding with him. He gets super excited in the car when he can tell we're on our way here. I brought my dog here to ease his pain from arthritis. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

Veterinary Emergency Group
790 NJ-3 Unit 1, CliftonI've been to both the Union and Clifton NJ VEG clinics multiple times and I have to say there is nowhere else I would rather bring my pet for emergency care. The staff is always kind, attentive, compassionate and they always make sure that my kitty is taken care of. He always hates going to the vet and so he isn't the easiest patient and they always handle him with so much care and do what they need to do to make sure he's ok. VEG gives me the comfort that no matter what time of day there is always a component and compassionate team ready to take on any emergency my little guy may have. If you need emergency veterinary care I would put all of my trust in their team. On my most recent visit, Jodi and Julie from the front desk, Maria, Charlie, and Alyssa on the nurses' team, and Dr Callan were amazing and all took such good care of my kitty and even myself, offering water and snacks and comfort. VEG is the #1 emergency vet and I would recommend them to any friend or family member in need of emergency vet care!

PetCure Oncology at Veterinary Radiosurgery and Imaging Center
1071 Paulison Ave, CliftonWe were so lucky to find this facility; our dog was diagnosed with a meningioma, and every other place we called was offering initial appointments weeks and months out. Because PetCure specializes in one thing, we were able to get an appointment in days. Having called so many places (many which didn't even bother calling back!) I would not recommend anyplace else if your pet has cancer and needs treatment. We had an excellent experience throughout. Our dog came here for a consult and then the CT-scan, and then 3 days of radiation treatment, as well as follow-up visits. (As a side recc, while your pet is getting treatment you should grab a meal at Love of Grub - excellent food, and there are definitely not-good food places in the area because we also went to those before we found Love of Grub.)Everyone on the team was patient, kind, and very helpful - even when it was not about them. At our last follow-up visit, we noticed something on our dog's paw which they referred us to our primary vet to check out; this turned out to be a sarcoma, though we didn't end up treating it given our dog's age and condition. What was most memorable was that in our dog's final days, when our primary care vet was not able to see her, we were able to connect with the PetCure team by email (even though they are closed Fri-Sun when this happened, we were able to exchange emails and got responses with reasonable times, pretty amazing considering it was off-hours and we were not even paying them for any of this). They helped us to determined that we needed to get our dog to an ER, who helped us recognize how quickly our dog was declining and to make the challenging final decision for an in-home passing a couple days later.Even though the treatment did not end up being successful for our dog (or honestly, maybe it was and it was something else in the end - she was almost 17 and health problems were cropping up weekly at this point), the team provided incredible service and we firmly believe they enabled us to give our dog the full care we needed and were able to provide, so that we could send her to her final rest knowing we had done everything possible to extend her quality of life. The team's bedside manner and customer care is impeccable, as many of these reviews attest. No animal likes a hospital, and our dog didn't seem to mind this one so much, even wandering around like it was somebody's house. We hope not to have to return to PetCure in future, but it's such a relief to know that if needed (or if a friend needs a recc) we know such an amazing facility nearby. We rest easier knowing our dog had a wonderful life, and part of that was the final treatment we were able to get from the Clifton, NJ PetCure Oncology team, giving us the extra time we needed to do all the things we wanted with our dog and to say goodbye.

Clifton Dog & Cat Hospital
1315 Main Ave, CliftonMy dog had bad blood and diarrhea for 1 year treated by my last vet. Nothing worked. I decided to go to Dr. Unay him and his staff were so great and front desk. They really care. We did blood work and stool sample and waiting to hear plan B. I went home feeling so positive from all the info that was given to me. Waiting for results. I will let you know. I wish I can go here myself lol!!!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

The Love of Grub
606 Van Houten Ave, CliftonVery average food and service. If you want a diner meal, this place certainly delivers, with an extensive menu of savory and sweet breakfast and lunch options. There’s just nothing particularly special about it. The place seems a bit short staffed and the food for our party of three was served lukewarm.

Ghost Hawk Brewing Company
321 River Rd #6, CliftonAn excellent brewery, both for its high-quality beer and its inviting atmosphere — though it could benefit from a bit more space. We loved the rock–metal–gothic vibe, and we had the chance to see two outstanding emerging bands perform live. If they added an outdoor area, the place would be absolutely perfect.
