“If you love theater, this is the place for you. An amazing selection of plays to read and consider---you can explore ancient plays by the Greeks, Elizabethan contemporaries of Shakespeare, or plays that have just closed on or off Broadway. Great ambience; friendly staff and comfortable spaces where you can lose yourself in whatever play you are reading. I am really happy it exists and always look forward to visiting.”

“This is a fantastic little store. It is a little hard to find because although the address is on Sylvan the store is actually located on the second floor of the Williams Center. very meticulously put together shop with books, records, CDs and graphic novels including what may be the fullest collection of Steve Ditko books. If you wanna know what it was like to find a great little corner record/bookstore on a side street in Manhattan in the 80s, just climb the stairs here.”

For those of you who love small town New England and how —in some ways — it can remind you of a Puerto Rican Pueblo, grab this wondrous gem of a family narrative set in both Woronoco, Massachusetts and la Isla del Encanto!”

“This is an amazing place. Books upon books in all different genres for very reasonable prices. The volunteers here are friendly, LOVE books, and are super knowledgeable about titles, authors, and anything else you might be wondering.
Good air conditioning too! That made browsing for a long time comfortable and peaceful.”

“Love book stores which are virtually a relic of the past. A nice place to spend some time browsing titles. I was looking for books for our grandchildren. I noticed it was a draw for some neighborhood seniors as a place to cool off on a hot summer day while reading up on some titles.”

“Love this place omg! Tons of super cute things , even if you don't buy anything its fun to look around. Total animanga lover heaven. The cafe is really nice and they make an amazing jasmine boba tea. Some of the things in store are at a markup so I'd recommend looking online before purchasing more expensive items. But you can sometimes find good things for cheaper thn usual. Got a really nice figure for a steal! Only real complaint is that it felt a bit awkward when going to check out, some of the employees just seem like they do not wanna be there. Not even a small smile or a "how are you". Asked for a bag and she had this face as if i was doing her an inconvenience. But maybe I just caught her on a bad day idk. Definitely going again soon though!”

“I stumbled upon this cute place while exploring the city. I had never heard of a zine before but was in awe when I walked in. It’s easy to forget about time and get lost in all the zines and books. The staff is really kind and passionate about the arts. Savannah really took her time to show me what Zines are all about. I was really inspired by her. I can’t wait to come back in the fall when I’m in the city.”

“Tannen's shop is magical. Anyone who has made it to the 6th floor at number 45 and to door 608 will end up in a paradise for magicians. Hundreds of tricks are waiting behind the large counter to be demonstrated and purchased. There is also a whole library of magical literature on the shelves.”

“This bookstore found me. And every since then it’s been calling me back. I walked in and was met with the smell of the alphabet and maps from every country in the world. I was allowed to peruse the first floor without being pressured and that felt good because walking in can be intimidating.Everyone there was helpful and I was directed to the second floor by means of a turn of the century elevator. Maps on this floor were organized smartly and you must ask for assistance before taking them off the shelf.I would encourage you to check out their website so you have an idea of what you are looking for before arriving. They also have volumes online that may not be in store at the current time but they have access to from their warehouse.”

“I love this place, they always have good food and a good atmosphere. I got food poising from another place and stopped to rest at their Cafe upstairs and it honestly was the most comfortable thing that happened to me that day. I love this place and they always have such nice staff!!!”

“Love this place. Good selection and is perfect as a neighborhood bookstore. It's always much more satisfying to go into a place like this and spend time, versus buying a book online. Great staff too!”

“So adorable! I'm so surprised I have driven by this store without knowing so many times. This store is the cutest bookworm oasis with a sprinkle of unique knickknacks for gifting joy or just for yourself. You walk in and to the right is a little book nook with arm chairs and a "fireplace". Straight to the back right is a children's corner draped with a bevy of new and old finds and some comfy pillow cushions for the littles to sit and read. We found some great books I haven't seen before and probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise, they do a nice job placing books face forward and highlighting a diverse collection. From a book about dim sum to critter club it was a nice collection without feeling cluttered. There's another corner near the register with totes, accessories and so forth. After purchasing our books (each with a bookmark and in beautifully designed paper bags) the woman let my girls Pick out a sticker to which the obliges with enthusiasm. Right across from Verona park and a much welcomed Addition to Bloomfield Ave. Thanks for making it a lovely visit. Be back soon!”

“I just love this bookstore... because it's more than a bookstore... it's a place where you can go and get lost in time and space, and connect with another world. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is very friendly and people go there sometimes just to hang around or socialize...or find peace and quiet in a busy and troubled world. This is a place where you can feel the sense of the community and feel like you are part of it.... it's a place where you can feel the magic of books coming alive. It's a place where you can find books, volunteer, attend a puppet show, an art or a yoga event, or even a birthday party. So give it a try and you will be happy you did.”

“Great booksigning‼ Loved how they set up the writer in the back so it allowed you privacy to talk with him. He was lovely and so accommodating to be able to take pic with all of us. Store also provided discount for purchases made that night. Overall great experience‼”

“One of, if not the best Judaica stores in the city and don't let the sign fool you, of course they have more than books....they have everying. The two staff are friendly, witty, and very helpful when assisting you with a product or something you'd like to see. The book section is overwhelmingly vast and I can't imagine them not having an item one may be seeking. I've been coming here maybe just shy of a year as I've become more observant. One thing about this place is you will always find things you weren't even looking for....it never fails. B.H. this store exists”

“Who doesn't love a bookstore! Thank goodness BN still exists! Otherwise, I would not be able to share my love of books and bookstores with my grandchildren. The best part for all of us (well, for me) is the toy section (telescopes, microscopes, you name it, it's there). The Grands also loved the children's book selections.
I must also mention the staff! They were very helpful and pleasant. In a world where customer service is almost nonexistent, I must give compliments where they are due! Please keep up the good work and great customer service!
Training is everything!”
