“We stayed in room 305. The room was beautiful. We loved sitting on the little deck in the morning. The only complaint was that the walk in shower needs to have safety bars installed. I have Polio and I had hard time balancing in the shower. Even if you have some elderly guests having safety bars would make their stay perfect.”

“This wasn't a fancy place! More importantly, it was totally clean! Had everything needed for our night there! Comfy beds and pillows.
Had a refrigerator and microwave which also was completely clean! Seems most rooms had a dog. I felt comfortable and so was my dog! I'd recommend to anyone needing a motel with their dog. I'd stay there again . Pleasant accommodating people , at the front desk. Reasonable prices! Food places close by to deliver to the room. The doors to rooms are outside. Perfect for everything we needed!”

“Perfect room. Cute dining and bar area. Outstanding fitness room. Large stretching/yoga rooms, full squat rack, DBs up to 110lbs, several machines and cables. Location is walkable to everything by the ocean. 2 minute drive to everything else on Cookman or take the scooters for $3.

Great service on-site and customer service over the phone.

Not my first time and won’t be my last.”

“This is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever visited, flawless in every detail. I visited on a busy September weekend when moldy Manhattan hotels were charging $600 a night, yet James’ single room was just $210—without any hidden fees. How could anyone complain?

The beauty lies in its artistic harmony. We stayed in Room 2 on the ground floor, a room with a brown theme where the lighting and colors were simply exquisite—every photo is Instagram-worthy. Our window looked out onto a corner of the garden, almost like gazing at a painting. As night fell and the garden lights came on, it felt like watching starlit romance. Every inch of the space showcases the designer’s aesthetic touch, something you would only expect to find for $1,600 a night in Manhattan! (And as someone who just stayed at the St. Regis for that price, I can vouch for this!) Plus, they even offer breakfast!

The bathroom is pink and perfectly coordinated. I hadn’t had the chance to soak in a bath in three years, but here, I finally did. The bathtub was new and sparkling clean. Though the hotel dates back to 1904, it doesn’t have the kind of decay or “charmingly old” issues that you often find in Manhattan hotels. You can enjoy a bath here with peace of mind. Bath salts are also available for purchase if you want a stress-relieving soak. The lighting in the pink bathroom creates a soft brown hue—an ideal backdrop for capturing beautiful photos.

Beyond the thoughtful design of the furniture and color schemes, they also enhance the guest experience with nice touches like a refrigerator, bath towels, and even two cookies upon arrival, which made my son very happy.

If I had to list any downsides: 1) There’s no elevator in this old building, which might not be stroller-friendly, but I don’t think it’s a big deal; 2) The staff finishes their shift at 6 PM, so any requests after that might not be accommodated—luckily, we didn’t run into any issues; 3) Some garden features, like a fire pit, might not be available; 4) The location is in a residential neighborhood, not downtown, so there aren’t many restaurants or bars nearby, and the beach is more rustic, not as fine-sand as Asbury Park. But honestly, this hotel is perfect for unwinding and reflecting—its tranquility is unmatched.

If I were to rate it out of 10, I’d give it a full 10—it’s just perfect for me.

Nearby activities: I took my son to the playground nearby , he loves it ! That s one of the best in NY-NJ, the seagulls at the ocean are aggressive, not recommended if u go with kids

Food and drinks: They only provide breakfast, and in a residential neighborhood, not downtown, so there aren’t many restaurants or bars nearby, we ordered The Greek Spot from DoorDash , it s damn good as like in this hotel”

“My husband and I stayed one night, after a concert at the House of Independents (a little less than a 15 min walk) and an additional night with our two kids. It was a great place to stay (clean, and super close to Main Street attractions as well as boardwalk). The staff are beyond helpful and friendly. My family would definitely stay here again!”

“This place is first class and fairly priced. Josh the Inn keeper was warm and welcoming. He keeps the house clean, answered all of our questions and offered assistance with anything we needed. The house is beautiful and cozy. The location is within walking distance of the boardwalk.”

“Noteworthy details: I spent New Year’s Eve with 9 life-long friends. Had a wonderful time. The Inn keepers, Linda and Bill, are warm and friendly. We felt like it was a home away from home.”

“Nice hotel that has a antique look to it. Seems like it was a big home converted into smaller hotel rooms. We love the feel and the look of it. We went for Valentine’s Day weekend and it was a lot cheaper.”

“A boutique luxe stay tucked in the idyllic streets of the Northeast Jersey shore. It’s oozing with New Orleans vibes. Sexy, stylish and mysterious with a splash Southern Charm….my kind of place. I’ll definitely book here again.”

“What a memorable stay for my husband & I who celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Everything was perfect! We were greeted by Tony who was with us throughout our stay with the upmost welcoming manner. Our room was beautiful and relaxing and impeccable which made our stay even more comfortable. Breakfast was amazing the two mornings, the presentation was beautiful and so delicious. I would highly recommend staying here, the location is also so convenient but more so for the hospitality and the feeling of feeling welcomed. We will definitely be back!”

“This place is is close to the beach and restaurants, driving about 3 minutes, walking like 24 minutes. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. The room was very clean and smelled good. They have parking. I had a great experience for one night. The only inconvenience was that at midnight I could hear the voices of people from outside. There were people talking outside my door, that’s all.”

“I stayed on the second floor for three nights over the past Memorial Day weekend, and I must say that this place surpassed my expectations.

My room was clean, my bed was very comfortable, I was provided a small fridge, and there was plenty of hot water to shower. I was a little shocked and was ok with the fact that there wasn't a hair dryer or coffee maker in the room like other hotels I have stayed in the past. I was also ok with the smaller TV with basic cable channels as I don't watch much television anyway as I am out of the room a good amount of time during the day.

The hotel has a ground floor pool, offers breakfast, has plenty of parking, and it is super close to the beach and boardwalk activities. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the price to stay here was pretty reasonable as well, in my opinion.

The only thing that was an issue that could be easily fixed is the entrance door to the room. It was a bit heavy to push in, and when closing, you have to insert your key and turn the lock to keep it from slamming loudly. Other than that, this is a pretty good place to stay and would book another room here again in the future.”

“As a family of four with a one-year-old and a three-year-old we stayed in their oceanfront room on the second floor. The view is absolutely stunning and you can’t ask for a better location! It is so clean inside I was fine with my one year-old crawling around on the carpet. This place is a hidden gem. The decor hasn’t been updated for a really long time but the beds and carpets and bathroom were so clean and it was perfect for a budget family vacation!! Hopefully the new owners keep it the same way or just make a few updates because it would be a shame if this hidden gem were to go away!!! We hope we get the chance to come back next year as we just discovered Windswept!!”

“Upon check in, I was greeted by the nicest man, who was funny and super friendly. He quickly gave me instructions about breakfast and with a smile, had me on my way to my room. The room was very clean, on the small side but it was just me so it was fine. It had a king bed, a small table and 2 chairs, a closet area w luggage rack, a fridge, tv, bedside tables, etc. The bathroom was cute, very 60s/70s looking but nice. I noticed it was very warm in the room. The thermostat said 82. I decided to turn the heat off completely as I was going into town and like to sleep cold. Upon return to the room some 4 hours later, the room was still 82 degrees and way too warm. I felt the radiators and they were still churning out the heat. I tried turning on the AC to cool the place down but it wasn't working. The radiators kept heating. So I went to the office and was met by a man who was on his personal phone. He spoke very little English and at first didn't understand the issue. He thought I was saying it was too cold. He tried to get me to give up and leave. When I wouldn't, he started loudly arguing with me. I told him I couldn't sleep in a room that warm, and then he told me it was "out of his hands." Really? There are 4 cars in this parking lot. I think it's wholly within your hands. When I wouldn't acquiesce and let him return to his phone call, he grudgingly came to the room for a look. He saw that I had it set to cool but the heat was still on. He then grudgingly went to the office and got a new key to the room right next door and let me in there. The temperature was fine. It took a bit for the heat to get going but I was totally fine with that. After that things were fine. I would stay here again but I would hope to be able to encounter the first kind man, not the other.”

“I can't say enough about this hotel. Not only did Sam upgrade us due to an overbooking at Boardwalk Beach Hotel, but we were also allowed to stay past checkout time on the beach due to the previous days' crummy weather. What luxury to walk out of our hotel room and be at the beach in 30 seconds!!”

“The food was awesome. I highly recommend the Sea Bass. However the service was lacking and our server seemed uninterested in us and would disappear often, even though the place was only half full. And, for some crazy reason, they feel blasting music extremely loud and to the point you can't have a conversation with the person next to you is somehow equal to great ambiance.”

“Just a plain little cozy 60’s motel. The rooms are very clean, the office staff is friendly & very accommodating. It’s got a nice pool & it’s very close to the beach. The weekday rates are reasonable. We’ve stayed multiple years for mini vacations.”

“Please, Google, correct the name of this business to Anchor Inn. Just look at the photos I already that you’re thanking me for submitting. It’s no longer Super 8, and hasn’t been. But Google Maps users must still search Super 8 to find it.”

“I’m going to rate 3 stars for now because I actually haven’t stayed here yet. I will be with my son this coming week. I was just trolling and reading the reviews and was shocked to see so many complaints about extra charges. Come on people read!!!! I must say me and my son pick a different place every year when we go to try out. This is actually the only place that we have booked that doesn’t charge resort fee upfront, that’s great option for some, as for parking as well it is clearly stated when renting your room all the fees involved. Parking and resort are optional. They also have fees listed to rent grills and grilling equipment . Stop giving a place a bad review because you failed to read the fine print . As for people that book by phone maybe they should explain the extra fees but honestly are u really booking by phone without looking at the website? They have it all posted. I was happy to see we take the train and won’t pay the parking fee, also still debating about the resort fee since I like to stroll for breakfast and we may not have time to enjoy the pool because most of our visit we will be spending with family that lives in the area. I no the location. Perfect for train riders and perfectly close to center of boardwalk, also right in the center tons of food options away from the boardwalk.
Updated review!!! Check in receptionist was very nice and helpful, Other workers were friendly and would say good morning. Internet is not really great and we only got it when in the court yard. A few handles on our dresser drawer were broken off.Overall our stay was very comfortable. The beds didn’t hurt our backs in the morning .The room was more spacious than expected, the shower water preasure was much better than most. They give you soap but no shampoo or conditioner, but I always bring my own anyway. The pool is the biggest at any place we have stayed at so far In the area as well as the patio around it. The ac worked from thermostat which was very nice. The place was very clean. It’s an older place but you can still see the care they put into trying to keep it nice.”
