Pet Care

Berg Animal Hospital
622 NJ-34, MatawanThe Vet was extremely friendly. She answered all my questions and concerns. She took the time to listen. Although I have a snippy dog, the staff handled him with gentleness and kindness. I was recommended this Vet came recommended by a dear friend. Needless to say she was right about how friendly the staff is.

Husky House
391 NJ-34, MatawanLouraine’s love and dedication for these dogs compares to no other. She insures each dog is taken care of by the best vets, kennel techs, and volunteers 24/7. Husky House goes through a very thorough adoption process that I admire. This is to ensure the best outcome for the adoptable dog to finding their forever home. I will never understand why there are negative reviews. Be mad at the irresponsible owner who put their dog in this situation to begin with! Louraine is the one that steps up every time and is the biggest loudest voice for these dogs! Instead of bad mouthing Husky House or any rescue for that matter, be mad at the backyard breeders, puppy stores, puppy mills, and abusers! Stop being mad because they didn’t think you were the right fit! Maybe instead of taking the time to write a negative comment, take the time and volunteer! Witness a portion of what it’s like not everything is all joy and playing with puppies! Then maybe you will see why Husky House cares so much!!! And most of all why I LOVE THEM ❤️

Stewart's Root beer Of Matawan
347 Main St, MatawanClassic drive up minus the overhead awning and roller skating. Ha ha. Classic menu. Classic root beer. Classic chilled mugs. The works. Can't go wrong if you want a hotdog locally. The only rival is a food truck parked in a gas station, down the road. IYKYK.
So, love everything about this classic throwback. Very nostalgic for me. Did I mention it's very classic? ???
Definitely will not be disappointed if you decide to try this specific location for the STEWART S vibe. Enjoy my friends, we do. Chilli cheese dog with spicy brown mustard if you're looking for my choice

Pauline's Italian Cuisine
765 NJ-34, MatawanLove the food...all the food. Amazing appetizers, mains and desserts. Baked clams and shrimp scampi apps blow my mind. Lobster with Angel Hair in Pink sauce and the Osso Buco are mouth watering and delicious. Pistachio cake and Tiramisu are absolute fire. There is so much more on the menu that blows us away every time. Great people - family owned and operated. Chef Rocco is among the best chefs in the Tri-State and beyond. You have to go to Pauline's. If you don't, you are missing out on the very best!!!

Big Ed's Barbecue
305 NJ-34, MatawanIt's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but once your inside you feel transported to a Western saloon of barbecue. The BBQ is very good and the prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend that you not wear your finest shirt.

The Burger Shop
231 Main St, MatawanWhat a fun little burger joint! The staff are super polite and friendly, the restaurant has a fun old fashioned diner feel and is decorated with a life-sized Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, and there are a couple arcade games as well. I got the Swiss mushroom burger and waffle fries and they were delicious! Once you order just have a seat and they'll bring it to your table. The burger was nice and hot and delicious! The mushrooms are fresh...not canned, and they waffle fries are well seasoned and crispy. Overall super solid, if you're in the area you should definitely pop in.

West Lake
1016 NJ-34, MatawanTDLR: Begars can't be choosers. I think this is the only chinese restaurant in the area, so good enough is...... good enough. Chicken and Corn soup: Warm, and it hits the middle point of clean and hearty. I was scared that it was gonna be tasteless, but I got enough chicken and corn to not feel that way. Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Tofu with Salted Fish: It was fine. The tofu did a good job defusing the saltiness of the fish, and the dish was generally well balanced. Objectively, this is probably one of their better dishes. I just feel that it didn't have the pop that I was looking for. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Yang Chow Fried Rice: A Chinese restaurant staple. 90% of the Yang Chow Fried Rice that you will eat will taste the same. This one stayed with the majority. Service; It was fine. The place wasn't busy, so getting what we needed wasn't hard. Ambiance: This place was built to support multiple small to medium families, and maybe one to two tables that can support 8-10 people. It's in a quiet area, so the crowd wasn't too crazy.
