“If you love theater, this is the place for you. An amazing selection of plays to read and consider---you can explore ancient plays by the Greeks, Elizabethan contemporaries of Shakespeare, or plays that have just closed on or off Broadway. Great ambience; friendly staff and comfortable spaces where you can lose yourself in whatever play you are reading. I am really happy it exists and always look forward to visiting.”
“Best book and patiserrie in NJ.You might encounter Turkey's prominent authors as well. A place to read and have a variety of sweets , salads. Oh donot forget to bring your small kids , it has a playground inside.”
“I always breathe a sigh of relief when I walk into Bluestockings. The vibes are good, the book selection is incredible, and they have treats and other assorted fun things behind the counter. There are lots of great community supports such as a free public bathroom, a free “store”, groups, and events. I am so glad that this place exists, and happy to continue to support them.”
“A book lover's paradise in Union square Manhattan. This bookstore has all types of rare and out of print books. Spent some quality time here. Wonderful readings.”
“This is a fantastic little store. It is a little hard to find because although the address is on Sylvan the store is actually located on the second floor of the Williams Center. very meticulously put together shop with books, records, CDs and graphic novels including what may be the fullest collection of Steve Ditko books. If you wanna know what it was like to find a great little corner record/bookstore on a side street in Manhattan in the 80s, just climb the stairs here.”
“I work in children's books, this store is a NYC gem. Staff have great recs at the ready for young readers of all ages. The first-print book collection is gorgeous. Great posters of classic books, the read aloud and signing events are unparalleled. You WILL go in for a book and see/meet a famous author/illus there by accident almost every time signing their books”
“Nestled in tranquility, Housing works bookstore invites you to savor a book over a steaming cup of coffee. The impeccable service, though unobtrusive, adds to the charm. While the book collection isn’t extensive, it remains a delightful haven for leisurely moments.”

“Great Judaica shop with books, ritual items, Jewish calendars, holiday items including lulav and etrog sets and sukkah decorations. Street parking. Kosher restaurants and nut free kosher bakery in easy walking distance.”
“Has to be one of the best bookstores in NYC. The book selection is incredible, I’m always so tempted. There’s some benches to sit on and browse, no cafe/food if you’re looking for that. Just books, what else can you ask for while walking around soho! The staff are all super kind.”
“HEAVEN?This bookstore is one of the Top reasons I like to go to NYC…and keep in mind I have family who lives there! It’s hard to believe but true that such a small, cozy place has so many great books and is really well organized, too.The staff is Amazing! Each person I’ve spoken with has been warm, engaging, knowledgeable and absolutely delightful! So, each time I’m in NYC and disappear, the response is…”Oh, Mom is at Three Lives.”I love it!”

“I'm not from Teaneck but I have to say I was super impressed about the level of service from the staff just in my case of finding a kippah that fit right. Amazing place.”
“Love this place omg! Tons of super cute things , even if you don't buy anything its fun to look around. Total animanga lover heaven. The cafe is really nice and they make an amazing jasmine boba tea. Some of the things in store are at a markup so I'd recommend looking online before purchasing more expensive items. But you can sometimes find good things for cheaper thn usual. Got a really nice figure for a steal! Only real complaint is that it felt a bit awkward when going to check out, some of the employees just seem like they do not wanna be there. Not even a small smile or a "how are you". Asked for a bag and she had this face as if i was doing her an inconvenience. But maybe I just caught her on a bad day idk. Definitely going again soon though!”
“Leave it to Margo to open her doors and her heart to Puerto Rican author and historian Elba Iris Perez’s debut novel —THE THINGS WE DIDNT KNOW ! For those of you who love small town New England and how —in some ways — it can remind you of a Puerto Rican Pueblo, grab this wondrous gem of a family narrative set in both Woronoco, Massachusetts and la Isla del Encanto!”
“Got a book, amazing prices, I could not find any better, amazing print quality, and came with not one, but two free bookmarks, and was shipped earlier than it was supposed to be, which is a good thing. 100/10”

“Finally found the place i was looking for. The store was full of inspiration! The owner was very welcoming and knowledgeable. If you spend enough time there is no book you can't find in this store!”
“I stumbled upon this cute place while exploring the city. I had never heard of a zine before but was in awe when I walked in. It’s easy to forget about time and get lost in all the zines and books. The staff is really kind and passionate about the arts. Savannah really took her time to show me what Zines are all about. I was really inspired by her. I can’t wait to come back in the fall when I’m in the city.”

“I am grateful Jersey City has this amazing bookstore! I especially appreciate the personalized efforts they put to ensure you receive the book you ordered. And honestly people shouldn’t complain about the prices. This is the type of entitlement that has put us in a situation where we have only one quality bookstore in Jersey City. Wear the old coat and buy the new book!”
“Love this book store!! I take my kids there. It's amazing to see them in awe at all the kids books with characters the look like them! The owners are incredibly nice and helpful.”
“Tannen's shop is magical. Anyone who has made it to the 6th floor at number 45 and to door 608 will end up in a paradise for magicians. Hundreds of tricks are waiting behind the large counter to be demonstrated and purchased. There is also a whole library of magical literature on the shelves.”

“I walked pass by chance of this store. It is cozy second hand bookshop with various kind of books for your selection.I got, Joan Miró book, from art section. The shop is not that big but has some space enough to serve people who come visit by chance and on purpose.”
“This is your quintessential cute and local bookstore. They have great selection, kind and helpful staff, and just the laid back vibe you want when entering a bookstore. They even had a copy of the book I was looking for that was signed by the author (no extra cost)! Highly recommend!”
“Love this book store so much! My kids are always welcome to explore the shelves and encouraged to. I recommend this store often and will continue to do so. They have books for all ages. Great place to purchase gifts and they will even wrap them for you!”
“Spacious, clean and a great place for ... Books! and some nice toys and games too for all ages. Expect to spend alot of money here.
There are bathrooms for customers but I wish there were more stalls to keep up with the number of people who visit this store. I don't mind having a security guard at the door. I usually don't come here during the holidays and have never been asked for a receipt to get in the bathroom. So I found other places to use the bathroom before coming here (old bladder) so I can shop. Can't exactly shop if you have the need to use the bathroom.
Have not been to the cafe in a long while. The food was just ok and unfortunately there are people who are not eating taking up tables and just lounging around. I don't really miss not eating here anymore. I go into the place pretty much knowing what I want, get it, pay and leave. I've never really had a problem with waiting in line or the cashiers.”
“Absolutely loved visiting this store on a recent trip to NYC. A friend and I found a few great books to schlep back to Philly. The team that run the store are knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely an East Village gem!”
“My headstrong wife dragged me - a very cheap, claustrophobic rube from Arizona - into this cramped, pricy space. I say pricy because I buy most of my books at Phoenix Goodwills and cant remember the last time I spent more than $2.29 for a classic. We were perfectly welcomed by a charming young saleslady (red hair) and instantly felt at home. At least to browse. I enjoyed seeing, and touching several notable specimens, but these ran $500 to even thousands of dollars. About to leave, waiting for my wife, I fingered a final super thin binding on a lower shelf so I could discern the title, and opened a crisp first edition of my ALL TIME favorite novelist, who died in 2006. It was signed. I just about died. That was the most pleasurable $145 I've spent in a long time.”
“I just love this bookstore... because it's more than a bookstore... it's a place where you can go and get lost in time and space, and connect with another world. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is very friendly and people go there sometimes just to hang around or socialize...or find peace and quiet in a busy and troubled world. This is a place where you can feel the sense of the community and feel like you are part of it.... it's a place where you can feel the magic of books coming alive. It's a place where you can find books, volunteer, attend a puppet show, an art or a yoga event, or even a birthday party. So give it a try and you will be happy you did.”
“Who doesn't love a bookstore! Thank goodness BN still exists! Otherwise, I would not be able to share my love of books and bookstores with my grandchildren. The best part for all of us (well, for me) is the toy section (telescopes, microscopes, you name it, it's there). The Grands also loved the children's book selections.
I must also mention the staff! They were very helpful and pleasant. In a world where customer service is almost nonexistent, I must give compliments where they are due! Please keep up the good work and great customer service!
Training is everything!”
“What a neat little specialty bookstore! So many books and unique cooking utensils on the shelves. The cashier (owner?) told us about the “bookstore trail” through the neighborhood but unfortunately we did not have time to check it out. Great place check out!”
“The best customer service! Needed something desperately in a rush and no stores seemed to have it in stock. But Manager of Z Berman made a few phone calls, and I had it in my hands less than 24 hours later!! AND they even custom engraved it for me within that time!! Amazing. Thank you!”
