“What an absolutely amazing store for fans of theatre arts! From the moment you enter, you know you're in a special place. The spiral book art swirling through the entrance and store are a dramatic and simple welcome for what is to come. The front section is books on actors, biographies, acting technique, theatre business, costumes, set building, you name it. If you need to learn something about acting or theatre arts, chances are, there is a book on it in the Drama Book shop. The middle area is where the coffee station is. We didn't have any coffee but it smelled great. The back part of the store was my favorite, with rows and rows of scripts, librettos it's a script lover's dream come true. They are in author last name alphabetical order, though I do wish they were by genre as well. There are lots of little nooks and seating areas to settle into if you want to write, study, read or just relax. The restrooms were also very tidy. Can't wait to return!”

“It is such a beautiful collection of books with African centric art and clothing. It's great to hear how they partner with other local businesses as well. The customer service was great, and since I came there to check out their clothes, the staff was very supportive and assisted me through the process. I first found out about them through a street fair they hosted with other vendors. And I love their variety of children books that represent the kids I work with. Overall, wonderful store.”

“Great store for books AND records. The owner is very nice too. I’ve been three times and found gems every time. Bonus: the coffee shop down the block and the taco place across the street are also worth checking out. Have yourself a great afternoon!”

“Such an amazing selection of both books and stationery! Their manga/graphic novel section is also crazy impressive. I spent way more money than I should have but I couldn't resist. The stationery level was a dream. I was able to find so many great brands I love. The cashier was very kind and suggested I get a member ship to save on my big order which was great. Just got my $10 gift card in the mail too! Great spot.”

“Ok, I kind of really hate reading, (always have, REALLY wish i didn't, i just simply can't help it) but after coming through here and seeing all the different genres and personality in this place, it lowkey made me want to read a book LOL. I always enjoy looking at the nonfiction and travel sections, and the selection is HUGE. The place is really well organized and clean too, which makes it easier to navigate through the three floors worth of books they have. Also for the niche audience that would care... they do have jellycats. Listening to chemtrails over the country club while walking through this place is the ultimate vibe.. would recommend 10/10.”

“Very welcoming place from the entrance. The address was easy to locate on the building and upon entry the receptionist greeted with a warm smile. Well lit, the spacious community area gave way to private nooks to carry out private conversations and manage private business. The elevators made the building accessible as well as multiple restrooms for all. Excellent place to learn and entertain.”

“Tannen's shop is magical. Anyone who has made it to the 6th floor at number 45 and to door 608 will end up in a paradise for magicians. Hundreds of tricks are waiting behind the large counter to be demonstrated and purchased. There is also a whole library of magical literature on the shelves.”

“What a fun place to visit in the East Village! They offer coffee based drinks as well as alcohol. On their website the alcohol drinks have clever names based on books, they weren't posted as such at the bar. Look them up on their website if interested.Sit a bit, have a drink, have a snack, enjoy the vibe and certainly check out the books. Great selection for a smaller shop. They also have socks, bags, etc. I left with 3 books and a smile on my face. Highly recommend!”

“Yvette, Sara, Esther, Dev, Patti and the whole team at Mystical World have treated me like family since I first discovered them at a Fair. Highly professional and educational with years of studies all things Metaphysical and more. Always a warm and kind hearted welcome. I’ve been referring them to family and friends for years with zero disappointments. These are caring, understanding, knowledgeable, and helpful people. Their crystals and stones are mesmerizing. They have everything you may need including the most beautiful of mass cards to express your sympathy to those who have lost a loved one. Their collections of angels and statues is pristine. Their classes are both therapeutic and educational. They hold several meditation sessions during the course of the week with Yvette’s soothing tone of voice bringing you to complete relaxation and feeling recharged afterwards. I’ve been a patron for around 15 years. They have never steered me wrong. I walk out of the shop feeling happy, positive, and empowered.I am so grateful and thankful for finding everyone at Mystical World.”

“Ant Bookstore is the place to be! Top 2 NOT 2. The energy, atmosphere, culture, love, representation, and staff are so wholesome and authentic. I’m the last person to leave a comment, but they were too good I messed around and left a review.”

“A very beautiful bookstore with a lot of great books, the surrounding area in SoHo is also very very pretty and the buildings are just gorgeous. The bookstore also sells stationary. The people are also very sweet and friendly :)”

“I discovered Printed Matter one day while walking around Chelsea visiting various art spaces. In this context, maintaining the operation at this location is absolutely a smart, brilliant idea as it attracts art nerds who also happen to be book connoisseurs. For me, the curation and selection are unique enough to place Printed Matter in its own category. Think of extremely limited press runs combined with high quality presentation and intriguing subject matter. No NYC bookstore tour would be complete without a stop at Printed Matter.”

“A true gem for any chess enthusiast. Not just as a shop but as a source of knowledge for improving your chess and learning about the history of chess. Fred’s a USCF Master, chess historian, and an incredibly passionate chess educator. Stop by for a great conversation or book recommendation, and walk away with some newfound knowledge that will no doubt elevate your appreciation of chess (and likely your ELO).”

“You know those bookstores you only see in TV shows or read about in cozy fiction stories? Do you wish to live out any dreams of small town magic in a beautiful bookstore? This is literally that bookstore. The assortment of choices is unbelievable. I’m able to find books here that I’ve never heard of and I haven’t seen on any other mass market publishing list of “books to read.” Everything feels personalized and considered. And that’s just the selection of books to purchase! The staff here is BEYOND unbelievable. I love every single person that works here. They are filled with a love for what they do, and for the books that they read. I have never had such an incredible experience shopping, and I can never get tired of recommending Watchung Booksellers to literally everybody. I’ve been going here since I moved to the area maybe three years ago, and they know me so well at this point that I’m greeted as I walk in. But it really doesn’t matter who you are, it really feels like a giant book family here. I literally won’t go anywhere else for books”

“Both Costco and Nordstrom's legendary customer service pales in comparison to the level of service Josh, Sunday, and the B&B Rare Books team provide. Josh and Sunday make time to educate you on the ins and outs of book collecting, and they work with you on your collection regardless of whether you're new to collecting or you've been collecting for decades.I've purchased books from multiple rare / antiquarian book sellers over the years, and none come close to the white glove service, dedication, and care that Josh and Sunday provide. You'd be remiss in at least not checking out their store or giving them a call.”

“Adorable cookbook store in Soho! It's easy to miss, so look out for the Cookbook sign tucked away on a quiet street. I highly recommend coming with or shopping for friends or family who like to cook or bake, as I think they would get a lot out of it (there is also a records store next door to explore!) The store is a tight space packed to the brim with cookbooks, magazines, vintage clippings all focused on cooking and the kitchen. There are also some very cute tea sets and antique kitchen gadgets for sale. Some seating for perusing items as well. When we came, we unfortunately missed out on the box of clippings which also had handwritten recipes. The service was also friendly, and we bought a very cute set of recipes for desserts with raisins! I thought the value of the store was generally good and rewards people who are willing to spend some time digging and treasure hunting in the store. This is one of the spots that makes nyc so special!”

“Great used bookstore in the heart of Hoboken's shopping district! I have shopped for books here for years and am currently a volunteer. The atmosphere is welcoming and the store itself is ran well. Definitely a must stop when in or around Hoboken. Great section for fiction and so many big art books with great prices!”
