“I've been a fan of hardware stores all my life (real one's, not Home Depot n the others). The employees at the big chain places rarely know what they are talking about, no matter how convincing they try to be.
This always leads to multiple return trips, multiple product returns, and wasted time and money. I went through this recently.
After a month of back and forth to multiple places and zero problems being resolved, I finally decided to go to Kens Hardware (20+ miles away).
Frank Kenny took the time and care to understand exactly what I needed. He then he took the time to customize a solution for me and gather the various parts needed. Afterwards he gave me instructions on how to make it all work. This place is the best.
No other hardware store will go to the lengths that Kens does, and certainly no big chain place has any employees with even a tenth of the knowledge needed to legitimately help the average customer coming through the door, no matter how much they act like they know what they're talking about.”

“Lavallette hardware is an iconic location in this town. I have been going there for 30 plus years. They never fail to go out of their way to help you find something, physically take you to the location where it could be found, and or low prices may be a little bit higher than the stores such as home Depot and Lowe's, it is more than worth it.The big stores no longer really care about the customer and satisfaction, the corporate greed has really taken them over. Anyone who has any needs hardware or anything in that category, be sure to go to this place. You will never be disappointed. Even in the height of the busy season someone is always there to help you.”

“I don't understand how they have everything I need in what feels like such a small store, but they do. Saves me a bunch of trips to Home Depot and Walmart (never would have thought to check here for bike supplies, but they have 'em!). They even have weird varieties of common items that I'm sometimes looking for. For the stuff I've needed, the prices are about the same as (sometimes less than!) Home Depot, too. Love this place.”
“We came down on a windy day in March and I said I want a giant kite that looks like a dragon. Well we were told to come to the hardware store and we were NOT disappointed! Walked in the front door and right there in front was a bin of all assorted kites and my desperately desired dragon kite. There is a ton of other souvenirs and we browsed for quite some time before hitting the beach and letting the dragon stretch his wings. 10/10.”

I had purchased some plywood tonight and had multiple sizes I wanted cut. I wasn't sure if I would have to purchase more plywood. The wood cutting employee went through my list and cut everything the way I wanted it without me having to purchase additional boards with plenty scrap.
There is customer service and then there is Home Depot red carpet customer service. ?”
“I am rewriting this review. Michael the install person who was out sourced by lowes was terrible, but Anthony who came the following week was fast, awesome, helpful and I would use him again. I do not blame Lowes on the first install person as some folks have a bad day, but Lowes addressed it and resolved the issue. I am again a happy customer”
