“We made the trip down from Massachusetts to visit The Fish Hut, and we’re so glad we did! The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team who clearly care about both their fish and their customers.
The selection of African cichlids was incredible — easily the biggest and most impressive variety we’ve come across. Whether you’re just starting out or already experienced in the hobby, this place has something for everyone.
A huge thank you to JR, Endrit, and Rich for taking the time to answer all of our questions and helping us pick the perfect fish for our tank. They were patient, professional, and genuinely excited to help us build something great.

We received weekly photos of our kitten and she always took the time to answer every question we had. Yesterday I drove 250 miles each way to pick up a Timbrado canary Pete of course had a few picked out an amazing little bird I can honestly say Pete loves what he does he is passionate about animals and has great integrity.. The shop is spotless like a hospital cages are immaculately kept birds are happy and great feather and the selection is endless sooo many canary breeds prices are best on EAST COAST...Thank you Pete my Greek brother.....”

“I occasionally walk into pet stores anytime i see one or anytime I pass by but this store was by far the best one I have ever seen. The vibes were immaculate especially with Jalae. She makes sure every single person the store is having the time of their life including their pets. Jalae is an exceptional and amazing person. She lights up the atmosphere in the split of a second and I love how knowledgeable and informative she is on pet supplies. Anyway, I bought a vibrating gecko toy for my cat and I know he will love it. Will be back again for sure. PS Crystal the lil frenchie is also an amazing cashier.”

“I’ve been here a couple times after having so many bad experiences with other salons and they’re truly the best. They do the cutest cut on my dog Stella every time and staff is so friendly and helpful!! They definitely don’t overcharge as well and truly do what’s best in the price range they give you which is really nice. I have a small dog and I was charged almost $200 last minute by another groomer in the same town for shaving her but after that I tried this salon and it’s been my go-to ever since. Def give this one a try if you’re struggling finding a groomer! Hoping this review helps someone else like me find a good place their little furry child ??”

“Since my move to the this area in 2006, the Pet Center',s customer service has always been quick, courteous and informative. The owners, Carolyn and Joe have always kept their store in fine condition and fully stocked with the latest in pet supplies. If you need a fish or supply ordered, they will do everything they can to get it for you quickly and for a fair price. They are always upfront and honest about the item you show interest in. For example, if you want to purchase a fish, they always make sure any fish you intend to keep them with are compatible and they let you know the care required. My wife and I highly recommend Carolyn and Joe's Pet Center in Rutherford, NJ.
***Update 06-19-2026: The most reliable and trustworthy shop owners I know. They will go out of their way to get a product, fish or anything you want including information on a product or live animal. I wish there were more shop owners like them.”
