“If you are looking for personable service you will find it at Sugarhill Hardware. No way could I have called or walked into a major retailer like Home Depot or Lowes and received the support ( that's beyond service) that I received from this family-owned business. I called, they listened and dispatched a well qualified family member to my home ASAP to correct a plumbing issue. I have never seen anything like it. Professional & serious about my plumbing issue in less than an hour my old faucet was removed and a new one installed. The price was soooo right!!! Thank you Marco (Dad) & sons Jeremy, & Marvin. “Today I broke a pole that my wife uses to hang her laundry to dry.There were about 6 things on it when I broke it.This was about 4:55 PM.I too the pieces and jumped into my car and drove there.The lights were on but the hours sign said closed at 5 PM.The time was 5:04 PM.I banged on the door and someone opened it.They told that they were closed.I told them about the pole.They get a pole for me and I paid for it.THE IRVINGTON HARDWARE store is GREAT.I have used them many times in the past and always was happy.This time I WAS VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY HAPPY.They are a great store.I recommend them totally.”

“Had water leaking out of the relief valve on my water tank last week. Watched a YouTube video, then Google mapped the highest rated plumbing supply store in my area. These guys came up, and they absolutely deserve the highest rating. Ben answered all the questions I had that weren't well explained in the video, then made sure I left with all the proper supplies necessary to finish the job along with some pro tips to ensure I only had to reassemble the relief valve once. Can't endorse this store enough. Thank you, Ben!tldr - They successfully helped guide me in replacing the relief valve on my water tank, and I have never worked on a water tank before.”

“Dumont Hardware is always my first stop. Bill is knowledgeable, helpful, and usually has what you need in stock, including some stuff you cannot find elsewhere. The prices are reasonable. As an example, I needed large washers to use as shims on a motor shaft. True Value wanted $2.79 each! Bill had them at the correct price, 12 cents each. His advice is not always needed, but I listen anyway and usually learn something I did now know before. Also his advice is priceless when you do need it. Make Dumont Hardware your first stop. You may not need to make a second stop.”

“What can I say about these guys that others haven't echoed? They know their stuff, are honest, courteous and have a much larger supply of higher quality lumber than any other big box store around. I needed to build a bigger deck with a combination of wood and TimberTech railings. Joe was patient and expertly helped us buy the right amount of wood and railings for the project based on our drawings. The deliveries were made as promised and were on time. Even when we needed additional materials, I was able to call in the order and pay over the phone. Start to finish, it was a smooth and enjoyable experience. They have definitely added one more loyal customer to their obviously long ranks. We will be back!Thanks guys!”

“Of course, I bare a local bias in reviewing mom and pop shops. Though this version of H&H is the 2nd location along Castle Hill Avenue, their 1st location currently held by Havana Cafe, the current iteration maintains the same ownership. When you enter, you're guaranteed a friendly and knowledgeable staff with plenty of dry goods in stock. Prices, even on this time of inflation, are very reasonable. Yes, brick and mortar shops seem passe in the days of cybershopping. And big corporate companies seem to tempt shoppers with online offers and easy sales. That being said, there's just no substitute for local businesses!”

My experience is that the present management is courteous, competent and helpful. I'm in the store 2 times a month or more and am very pleased to have them here in Hastings. They give me 5 star service but I'm male. I think the problem lies with one employee and not the others. Under the previous ownership, there were some exceptionally helpful people and one total j**** I just avoided the j*** and received exceptional service.”
