Animal Humane New Mexico is a private, nonprofit animal shelter located in Albuquerque, NM. The mission is to save lives and support the lives of New Mexico’s cats and dogs through sheltering, pet adoptions, humane education, and veterinary services. The area is surprisingly big, showing that the staff takes care of the animals properly. Staff members are happy and joyful, showing dedication and care throughout the process. They explain everything, give all the information and perks that come with adopting a pet, and make sure adopters understand. The shelter has many buildings, each one serving a different service for the cats and dogs. Adopters say the animals are loved and treated well. The staff is kind and willing to explain things. People who visit and adopt a cat or a dog notice that the animals were very loved during their time here. The shelter keeps its website and social media up to date with new and existing pets. A pet food bank is available, and pet boarding is offered. Any concerns are handled tactfully. Animal Humane New Mexico is a place where people can find a happy, caring environment for their new companion.
AHNM is a wonderful place to adopt a pet. They also offer a pet food pantry and other wonderful services to support pet parents and their pets. I'm a longtime donor and encourage those that can to consider donating or fostering a pet.

The vet here was so gentle with my older dog. Everyone was friendly and seemed to really enjoy working here.
