“The moment I walked into the shop Robert greeted me with warmth, excitement and enthusiasm, he made me feel welcomed and as though he had known me for years, I felt like family immediately.
I am newly engaged and was incredibly nervous about handing over my brand-new engagement ring (would have been for anyone I brought it to) to be altered—especially since it wasn't purchased through him. The ring was just a little too big on its own without a wedding band underneath it, so I needed sizing beads added. He immediately made me feel comfortable and reassured me that it was completely okay to be nervous. He shared everything he was looking at naturally which helped my comfort levels. He gave me all the reasons I could trust him and his work, and then he completely exceeded my expectations. He also committed to finish the work that very same day!
His prices are incredibly reasonable and he does not overdo anything. I deeply appreciated that he didn't try to upsell me in that moment; instead, he honestly told me to wait on any other changes until the ring actually needs it. He even encouraged me to come back every so often so he can check my prongs and stones, and let me know that if I need more sizing adjustments when winter comes, I can just bring it right back.
Robert is a master of his craft and a truly honest, kind, clearly experienced professional. I will definitely be back!!!

“Several years ago, we inherited an art collection. The collection included over five hundred pieces of artwork from both Eastern European and American artists. (Including but not limited to oils, drawings, lithographs, engravings, and original inks.) Since the collection was not catalogued, we had no idea how to organize it, who some of the artists were and the overall value. We met with Mark Lawson, and he agreed to take on the task of researching the artist for each piece, organizing the collection, and eventually auctioning it for us. He was able to identify each piece and arrange an auction in less than 6 months.We were impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail that he and his staff exhibited. We were also pleased with the first auction in which a majority of the artwork was sold. Subsequently he arranged a second auction in which additional pieces were sold. Finally, with our approval donated the remainder of the artwork to a local charity.We would gladly recommend Mark Lawsons Antiques to anyone seeking appraisals or someone to sell items.”

“Nothing exceptional, in terms of the variety of Swarovski products available at the store. Staff are helpful, but are different on every visit (or so it seems) - so that can be a challenge if you're going to ask questions (if staff are always new, how much do they really know about the products, right?) Stop by if you're in the mall - those Swarovski figurines are always fun to look at...I have my eye on that Batman, but may need to trade in my car to afford it! ? Ah well, who needs a car, anyway...Upgraded my review to 4 stars for the quick response from the owner (within 24 hours) to my review. Not all owners are monitoring reviews, and even fewer respond to them. I see that this owner responds to both positive and negative reviews in a professional manner - kudos!”
“Phenomenal. I initially wanted to get my watch fixed at a different place in the mall but the employee there essentially told me to go here instead. I was hesitant at first but man does this guy know what he's doing. I was in and out in less than 4 minutes with a new battery and and my watch resized. Highly recommend 👌 👍 ⌚”

“Metropolis is a bonafide vintage experience with pieces dating back to the early 20th century. I wore a circa 1910 wax flower crown from here for my wedding! The owner is extremely knowledgeable in fitting, styling, and fashion history which is super helpful when shopping. It’s like hunting for treasure with a professional guide. I’ve came away with hauls of 10+ items every time I shop here and always get compliments when I wear what I’ve gotten—same with my husband, brother, and father!
It seems like most of the negative reviews come from people who are afraid to chat with the owner and don’t respect the fact that the curated items are valuable and well-preserved from the last century. Vintage items aren’t made of stretchy polyester, people ?! People are so sensitive these days.”
