“This spot is a GEM of Westchester County. From around 9:30AM-1:00PM (approximately, some days run out faster than others) they offer fresh bento and onigiris in their prepared food fridge section.
Bentos include cooked salmon, mackerel, Japanese-style chili chicken, fried pollack, and sometimes more or less depending on what's available, they range from about $9.50-$14 (a STEAL for a nice big lunch in WC). They also have refrigerated beef bowls, eel bowls, and sometimes other bowls. They also have a small selection of prepared sushi, sashimi, and sushi bowls.
Onigiris vary depending on what's available, but typically they'll have tuna-mayo, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, eel, kelp, spicy cod roe, and more (sometimes less depending on the day).
Did I mention their store is absolutely pristine? Easy to find everything? Well stocked drink fridge with Japanese sodas/energy drinks/health elixirs? The ladies that run the store and cashier are incredibly kind too!
Limited free parking for the shop, but plenty of White Plains paid parking and some street parking on Mamaroneck (I know ughhh) nearby and yes I see attendants there every so often so watch out y'all.
AND they have a rewards program (ANALOG, THANK GOD) where you get a little pink card and get a stamp for every $10 you spend, once you get 100 stamps you get $20 OFF your purchase. Definitely a rite of passage to complete one of the cards, but it'll be easy to do once you get hooked.

“I have to put a review. I was looking for a place for a turkey last minute I called this place. Spoke with Tanji and she fit me in the last minute. I ordered a whole coked turkey for today to pick it up. She was so professional and kind. Spoke with her few times back and forth about ingredients due to allergies. Picked the turkey and I can say that it was the best turkey I ever had and all the guests were so happy. I will never cooked another turkey because there is no way I can cook like them. Thank You all to you and the best chef!”

“Today I came into the store, it was perfectly stocked with everything I needed. I wanted to give a shutout to one of the women running the cash register today. Makkedah was amazing, she was very friendly and we had a wonderful conversation. She realized I had a long day and offered to bag up my groceries even after I offered to do so to help her out, which I appreciated a great deal. She noticed one of my apples was of the wrong type that I wanted and helped me find the proper apples. The staff always are wonderful at this store but I wanted to write today because she truly made my day better and deserves recognition. Thank you Makkedah and thank you to the whole staff for everything that you do, it does not go unnoticed!”

“my wife been going there for a while and it seems to get better and better service prices. A place is clean, super clean. You need help. They're right there. They're always stocking up. That's the good part about it. So you know ain't nothing sitting that long. A lot of items. The meats are cut nice and fresh and I would really recommend this and the price is unbelievable. I mean ShopRite for what I got. I would have spent about $170 and then I have to go to BJ's or Costco's and I will spend another $70 so it's way over $200 and change everything that I paid $157 and change. It's unbelievable. Unbelievable. I thought it was a mistake. It's worth the trip up there.”
“Garden Gourmet really is an oasis in this neck of the Kingsbridge-Riverdale woods. The quality is uniformly high, with a few exceptions, and the prices are decent. More expensive than, say, Stop & Shop across the street, but overall a vastly superior store. Produce selection is abundant, with plenty of organic options. You can tell the store has a buyer who cares about quality. Again, with exceptions. They occasionally sell Sunset brand products, like tomatoes, which are not good. They should do better quality control on tomatoes. Also, there are many bagged veggies, like spinach and salads, which can contain spoilage and are best avoided. I wish they would eliminate these, but I guess people like them because the veggies are pre-washed. But there are plenty of fresh alternatives to these. The meat and chicken section also is good quality, but can be pricey, except they have an excellent deal on Bell & Evans chickens, which are top-notch. (They also offer cheap mass-produced Perdue chickens which are tasteless, but can be avoided.) The butchered meat selection is not huge, more select, but good quality and reasonably priced. However, if you're going for processed packaged meats, like sausages and other deli cuts, they have tons of high-quality imports, along with quality sliced ham, turkey, and other cold cuts that they package themselves. Their fresh fish selection is small, but good quality and not cheap. Smoked fish, though? Huge selection. Then there's the cheese -- a superb curated spread that's massive considering the size of the store, with many great prices. One picayune exception: their house-made fresh mozzarella is bland. Luckily they have other brands. Garden Gourmet obviously prides itself on their house-made products, including bean salads, olives, slaw, potato salads, etc. -- and these are uniformly good. They also offer a TON of prepared cooked food for take-home meals, but I never buy that stuff because I cook for myself. It sure looks and smells good though. The GG has a HUGE selection of locally sourced bread off all types that blows away any supermarket. Also a nice pick of cakes and pies and other baked goods that are either house made or locally sourced. One other criticism of GG: Their coffee beans are inferior. I wish they'd get a new supplier for these. Othewise there is SO MUCH more I could say about this store -- like discuss their IMMENSE selection of products imported from mainly Eastern European countries -- but I've blabbed on enough. If the Garden Gourmet ever closed down I'd be shattered.”

“I love shopping here for certain types of food. I love that they give the option to get your grains, rice, flour and other things by the pound. It is cheaper and you take what you need and have it weighed. I appreciate the courtesy of the security guard and supervisor/owner who is attentive and usually helpful. They sometimes run out of the snacks I need for my baby and i get disappointed because they have the best prices for the caribbean snacks. I look for ward to shopping here.”

“After taking my kids in their 20's to Ireland for the first time this year, I thought it would be a great surprise to assemble them an Irish breakfast box for Christmas. I finally settled on ordering Irish breakfast sausages, rashers, and black pudding from this shop based on their story and the reviews. We were not disappointed! The meats are fantastic. Now we are thinking we need to plan a trip to New York to check out the store in person, and load up on more meat. Thank you for the excellent service and products. “I’ve been coming here for almost twenty years. From the outside—and honestly, even from the inside—it doesn’t look especially impressive. But it’s truly a hidden gem! While they pretty much have everything you need, this isn’t where most people do their huge grocery hauls. I usually stock up on bulk basics like soda, paper products, and canned goods elsewhere. Still, I find myself at C-Town about twice a week, usually to grab what I need for dinner. Many times I walk in thinking, “What am I going to make tonight?”. It doesn’t take long to see something that inspires me. Other times I’m shopping for lunch the next day or to replenish essentials. The produce department is pretty good, though it’s not my favorite place to purchase fruit. The meat department, however, is very good and fairly priced. The deli is the real standout—it’s their shining star. They carry Boar’s Head products along with their own meats, rotisserie chickens, quiches, salads, cheeses, and truly excellent prepared foods. They even have fresh sushi made daily by someone right on site. Up front, there’s a nice selection of health and gluten-free foods, you can find popular Italian-American brand staples in the aisles. There’s also a small dessert section featuring Junior’s cheesecakes, and the bakery area is quite good too. On top of all that, the staff are genuinely nice and helpful. There is plenty of parking both in front and in the back. It’s definitely an IYKYK kind of place in town and I have a definite loyalty to it.”
