Pet Care

Corning Animal Hospital: Clay Joshua DVM
11863 East Corning Rd, CorningMy dog was hit by a car so I decided to take him to Corning Animal Hospital after taking him to Cornell. First let me start by saying I am not a sensitive person or overly obsessed with my dog. The treatment he received from them was disgusting. I truly cannot believe they are in the business of providing care to animals. When I took my dog to them he was in pain and full of anxiety from the accident you would think they would show some compassion at the very least. My dog never met them before that day so when they tried to do an exam on him he wouldn't allow them to do so. He would run around the room trying to get away from them every time they came near. He had wounds and a cone around his head so it's expected for him to behave that way. What did the vet and staff do? They pinned him to the ground causing him to get more upset which caused him to get hurt more as he was trying to escape. More pain, anxiety and stress. He even broke his cone due to all the mistreatment . I was so upset that I even allowed for this to happen but it went down so fast I didn't have time to react. I was angry. Then Dr.Clay put my dog to sleep so they could look at his teeth and saw that four of them were broken. He told me he would write a referral for him to be seen by Cornell to get the teeth taken out and would see about getting him in quickly. He said he knew some of the vets up in Cornell but that was said before I wrote the first review. In the referral he didn't put it in as an emergency. Cornell stated that if he did we could get in sooner to have the teeth extracted. I called and asked to have that done and they refused to do it. Most likely because I gave them a bad review after my dog was treated horribly by them. My poor baby boy has been made to suffer for months with broken teeth. Shame on you Corning Animal Hospital! Hope that treating my poor sweet babyboy in such a disgusting manner helps you feel better about yourselves! Scary to know that there are individuals in this line of work that we put our trust in to take care of our pets that are deep down nasty human beings. I'm letting everyone I know about our experience in hopes that another pet doesn't get dealt the same mistreatment.

Towne & Country Veterinary Hospital
8 Caton Rd, CorningSo far so good! I just started taking my cat here but from what I can tell they're organized, kind, and I don't find them to be too expensive. I haven't had to use it yet but they offer emergency services for your animals as well.

West Wind Farm
4258 Bedient Rd, CorningThis was our 1.5 year old long haired dachshund's first time in a kennel. We found Jennifer to be a very caring and dog focused care giver. Saxon was there for 4 days, and although very glad to see us, he seemed no worse for wear. He was walked at least 3 times per day and did so with the 4 other dogs that were boarded there. The facility is modern and clean. We will be using them again.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Iron Flamingo Brewery
196 Baker St, CorningAfter finishing our visit to the Corning Museum, we came to this brewery. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic about introducing different kinds of beer. I’m from Miami and have a big interest in beer tasting, and I was lucky to meet the owner, who chatted with me and my parents. The bar area was very clean and well-organized, and there’s also outdoor seating in the back. It’s definitely a place worth visiting.

Old World Cafe & Ice Cream
1 W Market St, CorningA unique Restaurant and shop in the heart of downtown Corning which resembles a victorian era. A old fashion counter ice cream bar and a nice display of candy is centered around comfortable seating for dining pleasure. A nice assortment of Gift items are available for browsing as well as purchasing while waiting for food order. Order is placed at the front service counter and will be brought to table when its ready. Menu items feature home made soups panni sandwiches deserts as well as other choices. My choice of lunch entree was the grilled cheese panni along with the home made bowl of chicken soup. The grilled cheese sandwich was huge with a nice amount of gooey cheese. The soup was served nice and hot with plenty of noodles. Comfort food at its best. A nice welcoming shop with a warm and comforting vibe.
