“Wow, I'm really glad I listened to the reviews. I was trying to find a decent shop to do my state inspections and this place blew me away. I live in Queens and some of the shops near me won't do an inspection because I have tinted windows, even though I have a legitimate NYS tint exemption sticker pasted on one of the windows. Dealership will do it but they upsold me hard last year so I vowed to never make that mistake again. This year, I brought my car here for the state inspection and a tire rotation. I met some guy at the front named Bobby and he was unusually friendly for NY standards. Was not expecting the good customer service that I did but can see why this place is so highly rated. In about an hour and 20 minutes, I was out of there with a passed inspection and everything. No up-selling albeit my car is pretty new but the dealer upsold me HARD last year which left a bad taste in my mouth. The tire rotation here was only $25, the Acura dealer was trying to charge me $60. Overall the best experience I've had in a mechanic shop in NY so far. That said, they seem to be busy even in the mornings. I booked an appointment for my inspection a week in advance but if I had just showed up with no appointment, I don't think they could have fit me into their schedule. If you wanna get work done here, it's probably best to call ahead and make an appointment. I plan to move out of NY in a few years but until that day comes, Check Point will keep getting my business for all my car-related needs.”

Today I brought it in for an alignment and oil change, and the alignment is smooth as butter. About five months ago, I also brought the car here for a kicking/hesitation issue I was having. They replaced the fuel injectors and spark plugs, and I haven’t had a light on the dash since.
It’s hard to find a shop you can trust, especially with a BMW, but these guys know what they’re doing. Great work, great service, and I definitely recommend them.”

“5 star alignment shop. Whenever we can't do alignments in-house we send them here and they have yet to fail us. Printout detailing what was adjusted and a knowledgeable discussion with all questions answered. We have used other shops before McCarthy and those other shops all performed incomplete alignments or didn't do them at all but still charged us (DO NOT GO TO: Goodyear Farmingdale, STS Massapequa, Mavis Hempstead TPK). We will continue to use McCarthy for our alignments.”

“Improperly plowed snow can play havoc on a sedan, like my 2022 BMW 530i, because of the height. I had no idea what damage could be done when I rode over it, apparently it had turned to ice in the late night and ripped the wires on a computer harness causing loss of power steering, along with a check engine light, and chassis stabilizer.
The next day I brought my car to Rich, spoke with his son Kevin, and they diagnosed and repaired the issues with excellent mechanical knowledge.
After I picked up my car, I spoke to a friend of mine and he specifically told me that had I taken this issue to a BMW dealership, they would have easily robbed me for more than 10x the price I paid here. This is what they do, that's how they survive. The dishonest practice of dealerships doesn't stop at the sales, it gets worse in the service department.
And it's not just about the money. Rich and his family are old school good, honest people, and very talented.
I drove away with my BMW completely back to normal, the Christmas lights on my dashboard were gone, everything else was fully functional, and Richard's Foreign Auto Repair has a permanent new customer.
If they read this, I would like to thank them again and after this great experience, I no longer am thinking about selling this car because I am no longer worried about where to get it serviced.
