“Love this gym. It’s my weekend gym where i escape my home gym that i have To go to during the week. Lighting is chill, Not abrasive and it’s not stifling hot. Always look forward to going here.”
“Joined a couple of years ago and still love showing up 4 times a week. The coaches are great and you feel like you are part of a community that all wants to get better and be healthier. If you have anxiety about working out and getting started, this is the place for you as everyone is so welcoming and everything can be scaled.”
“I started going to Metabolic 5 months ago and I am absolutely in love! I never really worked out before, but as my 40th birthday was approaching I felt challenged to do something different. I previously had a membership to a traditional gym but I didn’t have the discipline to keep going. But my friend was going here for a while and her results were so impressive so I decided to try it. I’m so glad I did. This is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. My family probably hates it because I won’t shut up about it! It’s been so great for my self esteem (and my body obviously). Plus the coaches are wonderful- they make sure that every class is a challenge, but they’re also careful to ensure that your form is right and you’re not lifting too much so you don’t injure yourself. And I can tell that they count my success as their success. Worth every penny!!!”

“I stopped in for a drop in WOD and had a great experience. Brendan greeted me when I arrived and gave me a tour of the gym. Liza was the coach for the class and I thought she did an excellent job. The WOD was fun, everyone was very friendly, and the vibe was great. Awesome gym.”
“A great gym with a nice selection of kettlebells, free weights, two racks, plenty of equipment to get a well rounded workout in. Stephanie is great if you have questions and she puts up exercises so you don't have to think but you can also do your own thing. 24/7 access with a sauna is one of the only gyms in the area to offer this too.”
“I was so unsure about crossfit, having to modify things i was afraid of being judged. I couldn't be more wrong, I couldn't be happier coming to morning workouts, friday night lights, I look forward to seeing everyone and the coaches are fabulous working with anyone and their skill level.”
“Of all the gyms and workouts I’ve tried, OrangeTheory is my favorite. Fun and effective. Just had a Friday night workout with TJ- he is encouraging and entertaining- the time few by and what an uplifting way to start the weekend!”

“We had our child's 7 year old birthday party at Albany Ninja Lab. I couldn't have asked for a better experience for my child and his friends. They had so much fun and all the staff was super friendly. Highly recommended!”
“Started bringing my daughter here last week and started training here myself this week. Staff members are very knowledgeable and patient with students. The environment/community of the gym is very supportive. 10/10 recommend.”
“I cannot say enough good things about Nora, Kristen, Amanda, Mary and the rest of the staff at Her Strength. I started going to Her Strength last year when I was about 25 weeks pregnant and had recently suffered an intercostal muscle strain. Nora curated a program that aided in my recovery and helped prepare me for the birth of my second child. During a postpartum recovery class she held my 2 month old so he wouldn't fuss while she walked me through pelvic floor exercises and other movements that greatly assisted in my postpartum recovery (I no longer pee when I sneeze). The new programing that began in January has been excellent and allows for one-on-one coaching and customized workouts. In sum, Her Strength is a wonderful gym community. Highly Recommend.”

“The gym is clean, well stocked with equipment and has a great staff. I am currently working in a small group lead by Justin, and he's fantastic! We're all at different fitness levels, and he plans our sessions with each one of us in mind. He thoughtfully plans so everyone is accommodated in a way that brings maximum benefit for all and meets each of us where we're at. He's encouraging without coddling. I'm accomplishing things I had no idea I could do! Reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend.”
“Anatomie is by far the best boutique fitness in the Capital Region! I've tried them all, I can confidently say that. Eileen and Pat (& staff) make you feel so welcomed from your first visit. They have created an incredible community of like minded people who are beyond inspiring and supportive. I've gotten through some very tough times because of their classes and encouragement.”
“Trinel is extremely knowledgeable and an amazing trainer. I highly recommend Synergy Albany to anyone looking to better themselves athletically or for their own personal health!”
“Looking for a place to learn, grow, and be empowered? Then look no further! Empire Defense is that place. I came in as a complete rookie ( and still am lol) but not once felt singled out. All the instructors are attentive, patient and encouraging! I look forward to my classes every week!”

“I was a beginner to any kind of fitness. And I made the best decision to join Albany CrossFit.Coaches taught the fundamentals of CrossFit, posture and basic nutrition which I was never aware of. Coaches were aware of my fitness level and adjusted my workoutmovement accordingly. Definitely reached my fitness goal.I also enjoyed occasional yoga and squash sessions. Love the gym overall.”
“It's hard to imagine how any business could have perfect reviews on Yelp and be legit, at least that was what we thought before coming here. But it only took one class for us to be hooked and understand why people love it so much. This is such a wonderful environment, regardless of what you're looking for. There are legit boxers here that I wouldn't want to go up against, and there are newbies like me with no clue what they're doing. There's coaching and personal training available, fitness classes every day, boot camp classes a couple times each week, and as I understand it, they even have a special class for elderly clients with dementia. You will not feel self-conscious here, you will feel surrounded by people looking to better themselves and/or expand their knowledge of boxing, from every age range, every demographic and every skill level. The common thread is that from the members to the instructors everyone is kind, caring and encouraging. You won't be pushed beyond what you can handle, you'll be appropriately nudged to give it all you can. No one will berate you if you take a break, you get out of it what you put in. No one will expect you to be Muhammad Ali, you'll be coached and advised where you are based on your own goals and skill level. We're total converts, and we're not even "gym people". If you're on the fence, go to one class and you'll be hooked!”
“This gym is an amazing hidden gem in downtown Albany. Bryan, the trainer who runs it, is friendly and knowledgeable and has mentored me for over a decade now. You can workout solo or utilize Bryan or one of the other trainers. The place has a great feel, friendly people, flexible hours, plenty of space and equipment, fitness classes, and a convenient locker room with showers... everything I need. Somehow it stays very reasonably priced and is never too busy. My workouts there are the highpoints of my day. Can't recommend the place enough. With all the fitness centers that have come and gone, I'm glad this one has stayed around.”

“A good place for the whole RPI community to get their body in shape and refresh mind. Though some of the equipments are sometimes out of order, but the overall 3 level gym is quite spacious to accommodate your needs. The ground floor mainly focuses on weight machines, 1st floor has cardio, 2nd floor is mainly for different club activities, like zumba dance, karate.”
“The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone seems to be very diligent about cleaning the machines after they use them. If you want to tan , you have your choice of a standing booth or one you lay down in. Overall I have had nothing but good experiences there.”
“Used to be decently full and all machines were available within acceptable waiting time. Nowadays, it is very crowded and hard to walk around in. Finding a machine/bench/area that isn’t occupied is a struggle. I have no idea why there’s three potential areas for training and classes that are basically closed off for the rest of the people paying for the gym whenever they decide to. The turf room, the cage room, and the dancing room behind the cardio area. I have never seen all of the cardio machines in usage either. With 1 incline press, 2 bench presses, and 6 benches. Maybe there is a more optimal layout that can have more machines to accommodate the larger crowd. Apart from that, great staff and good atmosphere. Smoothies are amazing. Quality equipment, just a lot of people.”
“I usually stick to traditional strength training at a regular gym, but every now and then I like to mix things up with CrossFit. I moved away from Albany a while ago, and since then I’ve tried a few different CrossFit gyms. I recently started at a new one, and nothing against it at all, but it reminded me how much I appreciated my time at CrossFit Spur.
What I appreciated most was the community. It felt welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely fun to walk into every day. John’s bodybuilding background meant we’d mix in fun things like bicep pump finishers, and Lauren had a firm but motivating coaching style that pushed you in the best way. During class, they really took the time to help each person with form and technique, so you never felt overlooked or unsure of what you were doing. Their dog Blanche was usually around too, which added to the friendly, personal feel of the place.
The gym was always super clean and organized, and they clearly took pride in their space and equipment. You could tell they truly cared about their members and the environment they were creating.
If you live in the area, this is absolutely where you should go. I’d honestly drive past other CrossFit gyms just to train here.”
