“My partner and I stayed at Phoenicia Lodge over a long weekend in January and can’t say enough nice things! Jennifer and Maureen are wonderful, kind people and we enjoyed seeing them every day at breakfast. The room itself was sparkling clean and equipped with toiletries, a mini fridge, and a DVD player, which we used every night thanks to the Lodge’s expansive collection. A continental breakfast is available every morning (coffee, yogurt, bagels, pastries, juice, etc.) and was perfect fuel for our morning adventures on the trail. There are many nearby options available for food. Phoenicia Diner, Brio’s, Woodstock Brewing and several other dining options are only a 5 minute drive away. We spent one of our days snow tubing at Hunter Mountain (20 min drive), another hiking Kaaterskill Falls (25 min drive) with a visit to Van Winkle brewery after (35 min drive). Our last day we spent visiting the massive antique store right in town (5 min drive) and took a long walk along the Ashokan Rail Trail (10 min drive). Phoenicia Lodge was the perfect central location for us and we couldn’t have been happier. We will be back and would recommend anyone visiting the Catskills to stay here!”

“Winter getaway for skiing. No cell service! Not the motel's fault - just a warning, if you need to keep in touch via phone. There is wifi but it dropped a lot. Beds - clean and comfy. Bathroom - great. Kitchen - nice, but our fridge was NOT working, which we did not know until the first morning, we woke up to room-temperature meat and cheese that had to be thrown out. The second night we simply put our food in the car since it was well below freezing outside. We will probably stay here again next time we visit the Catskills area!”

“This hotel can be compared to…… hmmm….. nothing!!! There’s no place like the colonial! Hotels like this don’t exist anymore and I would give this place 10 stars if I could.Colonial is an experience. It’s a hoarded up, unique, eccentric grandpa vibe inn with just about everything you don’t want to see in a modern hotel. Ceiling water stains, creaky floors, spider webs, wobbly beds, ripped rugs and you name it…. They have it. However…. Where you need it clean…. It’s cleaner than you could do it yourself. And yet…. My 5 star, all inclusive, resort loving, spoiled self would stay there every other weekend if I could. This place is run by the most loving, warm and non judgmental people you’ve ever met. You are family there and these people don’t care who you are and what you’ve got. They will buy you drinks ( mini beers - local shot that cures complaining) or make you get your own if the bartender isn’t there. They will act as if you’re their long lost friend and serve you breakfast, that you will eat whether you like it or not.We stayed in room number#28, which was right next to room #11, because you know….. the colonial. WiFi worked great, shower was warm, room was hot, bed sheets were clean and mattress was butter soft.Book over the phone, pay cash, tip everyone and chat with the locals!!!”
