“This place has very quickly become one of my favorite places to eat in the area PERIOD. The sandwich variety and quality is amazing. They’re more expensive than what I’m used to for a sandwich (I’m not from NYC), but as soon as you take a bite, you get it. I always forget to take a photo when I go here because I am so focused on eating! Portion size is large, and I usually eat one sandwich over two meals. Staff make excellent recommendations, are genuine, and usually offer a free sample of whatever they’ve just made, which is a very nice touch. Their house vodka sauce is delicious. They also make fresh pasta, and I’ve enjoyed their gnocchi. Will be back again and again and again.”

“First thing I want to say is that there are many fake reviews on this restaurant and I can't believe yelp hasn't spotted them? Now to the review. The sandwiches from the menu are perfect. I would avoid the specials. My sandwich was $16 but since I was full after one half I think the price is good. I will definitely come back when I can!”

“Love this store, the ladies are awesome and always help me with selections. Their lamb is especially good, as is the steaks and turkey. My turkey breast this Thanksgiving kind not frozen and with a packet of fresh herbs, it was delicious. The store always smells like smoked meat too, takes me back to shops abroad for sure!”

“Cherry Valley is expensive, however, it's the only supermarket in the neighborhood that is walkable, unless you walk down to Golden Farms which is also another good one. If you want a hot Dominican breakfast or lunch, this is a great option. However, beware of expiration dates. They always have sales, which is awesome, and are always stocked and the place is super clean. Just be careful with what you are buying. I bought cereal on sale and the cereal was stale do to the bag being punctured. The staff here is great and always greeting you!”

No one told you to open 200 indian stores on hillside and then expect everyone to come to your store. So stop fosting negative reviews that are not true about this store and workers. “Really good quality produce, meats, and deli department. Some dairy and grocery items are priced toward the high end of the "competitive" range, but that's the price of convenience. The previous place left a void when it closed, so it's great to have an even better neighborhood supermarket fill that void.Unfortunately, there has been an increase in thefts recently and Marino's has had to create a new policy: no using your own bags to shop (use their baskets instead), and no "granny carts" at all. It's inconvenient, but we can't blame the store or its employees; they're simply reacting to a sad reality. Two thumbs down for the thieves who have made the new rule necessary.Meanwhile, we should keep supporting a local business that has served the community well.”

“Lovely neighborhood market in Astoria. The produce covered all the usual fruits and vegetables, seemed fresh, and was a good price. I've personally been hunting for certain whole spices in NYC for a couple weeks, and I finally got cardamom pods, all spice, and star anise! It was a good price compared to other specialty groceries I've visited in Manhattan. I also got some cool goodies like pomegranate molasses. There is a huge selection of olive oil, olives, and a halal butcher in the back. The grocery store was clean inside and smelled deliciously of salted olives and other spices. The line moved a bit slowly, but the staff were friendly and helpful if you ask them to help you check prices (which aren't always posted clearly or labeled)”

“I live up the block and decided to stop in and see what they have. Upon entering, I noticed they made lamb over rice as well as Gyros, and decided to try the lamb gyro. When I got home, I noticed it was exactly like the ones you can buy at the halal carts! I was extremely pleased with it and due to the hot weather, I will definitely be coming again. Next time, I will be ordering the lamb over rice. I highly recommend this restaurant!”

“Never knew there was a Butcher on Parsons even though I've passed by many times. They close at 7:30pm I think. I wasn't sure what to expect since the market is pretty small and L was there a hr or so before they closed, so not a huge selection. Prices are similar to your supermarket. I didn't see options for organic, grass fed proteins. So I tried some ground beef that looked very good. Nice red color.. and some chicken breasts that they sliced up quickly. I made the chicken for dinner later that night with some organic garlic, artisanal red onions and a green tomatillo sauce. It was absolutely delicious. Chicken was very fresh. Not stringy at all. Sliced thinner than my local supermarket. The ground beef was in the fridge for 4 nights. Longer than I usually keep meat in the fridge so I was really surprised to see the same nice red color inside and outside. I made a meat sauce for spaghetti. Very lean, great quality. Tasted better than what I normally get at Whole Foods. Even WFs proteins would not last this long in the fridge... Definitely coming back here for some steak.”

“Excellent place. Was just there the other day as of April 7th, 2024. Huge burgers and great German potato salad. Beers getting a little expensive at nearly 10 bucks a pop. At least what I got. German food is definitely not healthy. lol. It's very underrated since it's so good but never gets the hype. Had one of those huge pretzels too. Excellent and soft.Their home fries are outstanding. Next door is great with their deli. Got some stuff to go. The Forest bologna is top notch. To me it's a little better than Boars Head and that's saying a lot to me. The Frikadellen is very good. Kind of like chopped meat with spices in it. At 2.25 a pop it's worth it. Roast beef is quite good. Their chop meat is very good. Round pretzels you can use as bread for a sandwich as well.. Nice beers up front and various mustards. A really good place.”
