The Hamptons has no shortage of incredible restaurants, and Shelter Island alone is packed with worthy contenders (the ferry ride itself is entertainment for some). But there’s one place I’ve been mentally gatekeeping for years…until today. Just down the road from one of Shelter Island’s buzziest destinations sits The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages, one of my absolute favorite spots for waterfront dining in the Hamptons. We stumbled upon it years ago after an Itzhak Perlman concert. Back then, before the beautiful renovation, my family affectionately called it The Dirty Dancing Hotel. It hadn’t been restored yet, but we adored it anyway. Fast-forward to today, and while it’s had a stunning makeover, it somehow still feels like the same magical place. The views alone are enough to earn an audible gasp from first-time visitors. But what keeps us returning isn’t just the scenery—it’s the hospitality. One evening, after getting caught in that unmistakable Hamptons humidity before dinner, I jokingly asked if they happened to have a blow dryer. Instead of politely laughing me off, they graciously escorted me to the spa, where there was everything a girl could possibly need. It’s such a small gesture, but those are the moments that stay with you. As for the food? Consistently excellent. On our most recent visit, I ordered the pasta with peas. We loved it so much that our table ended up ordering three. The sweetness of the peas paired with the beautifully homemade pasta made it impossible to resist. The deviled eggs remain some of the best I’ve had anywhere, and the cocktail shrimp? My sister has what can only be described as a clinical addiction to them. The Pridwin also hosts jazz nights, lobster bakes, and seasonal events throughout the summer, making it worth the ferry ride for far more than just dinner. If you’re looking for one of the best restaurants in the Hamptons, a memorable Shelter Island restaurant, or simply somewhere guaranteed to wow your guests, put The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages at the top of your list. The Pridwin doesn’t just serve dinner—it delivers the kind of evenings your guests will still be talking about long after they’ve gone home.”

“We celebrated our one-year anniversary at Silver Sands, and it was truly the perfect getaway. We stayed in one of the beach shacks, which was absolutely adorable—so charming, spotless, and incredibly cozy! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. Everyone was genuinely friendly, attentive, and made our stay feel special. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the beach is peaceful, quiet, and the perfect place to relax. One of our favorite parts was how close it is to town. We rented bikes one morning, grabbed breakfast, and explored before heading back to enjoy the beach. It was the perfect mix of convenience and tranquility! The spa was absolutely unbelievable. Every detail was so thoughtfully done, and it was one of the most relaxing, luxurious spa experiences we’ve ever had. It made our anniversary weekend feel even more special. “We stayed here for a wedding and are so glad we did! The house is gorgeous and a quick walk to downtown. The breakfast was great, too - still thinking about those pancakes. All in all, our room was a good deal for the area and had everything we needed. Of course, also need to highlight Joan. She was such a wonderful host and made us feel so welcome. “My husband and I had our wedding here last September. We had the best weather and views - our family and friends are still talking about it. Sherri was nothing but helpful. She went above and beyond what she originally told us would be her roll in the whole thing and she definitely took a lot of stress off of us. The grounds are a blank canvas for whatever style wedding you are going for but your back drop will without a doubt be breath taking for your ceremony and or reception. It was the first venue we visited in the beginning stages of planning and we knew right away we didn't need to look at any others. We kept our boat at their dock that weekend and left on it Sunday afternoon. Many of us stayed the whole weekend; the rooms and views were dreamy I would love to stay there again.”

“Amazing place, great bar and rooms were clean and comfortable. Pillows on the bed were amazing, I have never had a better night sleep in a bed that wasn’t my own!! The ladies at the front desk were so sweet and accommodating, they actually upgraded us for free. There was a pool and a nice patio in the back (that we discovered as we were leaving!). We stopped by the bar both nights we stayed there and had the best French fries - super thin and crispy. Ended up chatting with a few friendly locals who made the hotel even more charming…always a good sign when you know it’s a regular spot!! ? all and all, can’t speak highly enough about this charming inn.”

“I’m here to write this review because I had an AMAZING experience at the Harbor Front Inn. As a stressed bride with other life stressors, our honeymoon abroad unexpectedly had to be changed to something more local, and I was feeling discouraged and disappointed when things kept not going my way. I spoke on the phone with the kindest woman, Deanna, who reassured me that our honeymoon would still be magical. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond—she even made sure the pool was ready for us, even though our room wasn’t yet. The staff upgraded us to a beautiful king suite overlooking the harbor and surprised us with champagne and delicious macarons. Deanna wasn’t the only amazing part of our stay—her colleague Jessica was just as warm and welcoming. Every time we passed the front desk, they checked in on us, asked how we were doing, and made sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up extending an extra night. Deanna and Jessica truly made Harbor Front Inn feel like the perfect place for any couple, family, or solo traveler. If I could give this hotel a 10/10, I would—entirely because of their warmth, kindness, and above-and-beyond hospitality.”
