So if you're looking for a local place in Asheville for these, forget amazon with potential defective shoes (I went through three pairs of ordering before I gave up)Second:I had THE BEST experience here. If you want to find appropriate footwear but don't want to spend all day finding the right shoe, and want someone who WANTS to help you, this is THE spot!Thad was my shoe finder. One word...AMAZING! I hate to shop so I put it off until I can't stand my shoes anymore and they resemble little pieces of rubber more than a shoe. I'm also a busy person so I don't have all day to try to figure out the right shoes for my feet. Here's what happened:I was pleasantly greeted immediately, asked if they could help and what I was looking for (which I didn't really know I just told him the kind of shoe I liked and what I wanted shoes for). In less than 45 minutes I found all three pairs I needed and got an extra pair I never looked at buying before but discovered through Thad's best picks for me, was indeed a great choice.The best part? I didn't feel rushed, had plenty of conversation and didn't have to do anything but put shoes on and walk around while Thad told me about the shoe and asked me how they felt. The other person working was also friendly.The whole experience felt like I was there to actually enjoy myself versus my 'this is an errand' approach I usually take with shopping.AMAZING.Oh, and they have an extremely versatile selection. I tried on several pair of shoes to find a good fit and the sales lady was so nice and actually found me the.pair I bought. They take the time to get a good fit for kids and adults. Brand name shoes but also purses, socks, and insoles.”
“Went in on a whim today because my knock off’s ripped. the man who helped me was AMAZING. i unfortunately did not catch his name but he had very cool tattoos, long hair and gaged ears. i was a huge fan of him. i kept picking shoes that didnt match my size and he would go back and forth from the back to from to help me. he was the main reason i bought 2 pairs and not just one. and the recommendation for the comfort vans was top notch omg im obsessed. definitely check this location out. 10/10”

“I went to this store in desperate need of business clothes. I had walked around the store for a while when a saleswoman, Megan, asked my size. She was very friendly and pointed and brought me to the correct section. She asked me what I was looking for and fitted me to ensure I was wearing the correct size. For the entirety of my visit, Megan was taking clothes and putting them back if they didn't work for me, bringing me clothes and sizes that would fit or that she thought would meet my needs, and giving me her thoughts on the way the clothes fit. She made sure I was well taken care of, answered every question I had, addressed all of my concerns knowledgeably, and served us other guests in the process. Megan was skilled, confident, and honest as she helped me with anything I needed. I found a couple of outfits with her amazing help. ATF has gained another loyal customer!”

“I think the store is great. There was only one sales person and she was amazing! I just come from the coach outlet where the woman helping me was almost useless. I showed her the two shoes I wanted to look at at coach and she kept coming back to me over 10 minutes telling me what sizes they had. And I looked at her finally after 10 minutes of this and said, are you going to bring me a shoe to try on. I did like one of the shoes… And she actually switched me to a different sales person… But then I walked over to Merrill. For the price of one pair of shoes at coach I bought two pair of shoes at Merrill. The Merrill salesperson was amazing! And helped me and got me the shoes I wanted and there was no 10 minutes to 15 minutes of wait time. Merrill is great!”

“Staff was ok, check out was slow, but I like their style of clothes. Hint: I wash on delicate cycle and dryer, but take them out before they are completely dry. That keeps the fit and color nice. A few items hanging on the racks were put back with strands of hair on them.”

“The prices and selection were comparable to what many other shoe stores in the area offer - what surprised me was the customer service! I went there a few days ago and the manager who was there (can't remember his name but he had curly black hair and had a great demeanor) was very helpful and I was able to walk out of the store feeling like I made good choices!
