“Great experience! Love my shoes! I have a history of difficulty finding shoes that feel great on my feet. I've tried many brands and stores. The employee who helped me at the Pisgah Forest store was very knowledgeable and patient as he found multiple pairs of shoes for me to try ( I have large feet and a long 2nd toe ) and we found just the right pair that day within just a few minutes! I couldn't be happier! I have already hiked in them several times and literally forget about my feet because they are so comfy. I highly recommend Foot Rx at Pisgah Forest!

“I read about Tops for Shoes before visiting Asheville but my research didn’t prepare me for such an exceptional find. This place is an absolute gem! Denise and Larry assisted me during my visit and they were so helpful without pressuring me to make a purchase. They were knowledgeable of their products and their inventory was extensive. They offered brands that I had not heard of previously and the selection was amazing. Overall, it was an excellent experience that made a very positive impression on me. I will be sure to come back again and again.”
“Full disclosure time. We went to just running to try on shoes and then buy them through my daughter’s discount work program. However, we walked in and were greeted by a couple of fantastic ladies who were working there after a 45 minute conversation and an information dump we wound up buying shoes and they were actually different shoes than what we went to get. We thought we knew what was best for my wife, however after talking to the ladies and getting a massive education on not only shoes, but on how to lace shoes to make them fit better. But ultimately, we got shoes that were designed for what she was trying to do. Lastly, they wound up being on sale and there was only about a $10 difference anyway. I cant recommend just running any higher and supporting a local shop that has tons of information and tons of experience that you can’t get online or at big box stores.”
“Had a great experience here today! I called to inquire about insulated work pants and was pleasantly surprised that they had some holdovers from last year in stock! The salesman I spoke with was incredibly helpful, unfortunately I can't remember his name (maybe Rodney) but he checked the stock for me before I even came in. Once I came to the store he remembered that I called and showed me everything we discussed and also helped me pick out more sizes and showed me other styles. I hadn't ever been in before but this is hands down the best work apparel store in the Asheville area. The prices were also very reasonable. Overall the store was very well staffed, well stocked, and had plenty of fitting rooms!”

“I think the store is great. There was only one sales person and she was amazing! I just come from the coach outlet where the woman helping me was almost useless. I showed her the two shoes I wanted to look at at coach and she kept coming back to me over 10 minutes telling me what sizes they had. And I looked at her finally after 10 minutes of this and said, are you going to bring me a shoe to try on. I did like one of the shoes… And she actually switched me to a different sales person… But then I walked over to Merrill. For the price of one pair of shoes at coach I bought two pair of shoes at Merrill. The Merrill salesperson was amazing! And helped me and got me the shoes I wanted and there was no 10 minutes to 15 minutes of wait time. Merrill is great!”

“Came in on a Friday to buy a new pair of work boots and found a super nice pair of timberland pro boots, the same exact ones I had been looking at online, for about $10 cheaper than Amazon. I was so excited I wore the boots out of the parking lot. Well after about an hour of driving home and walking around, I realized that the tongue of the boots was rubbing my ankles raw through my socks. I was very disappointed that my new boots were uncomfortable. Sunday afternoon I went back to the store to see if I could plead my case and maybe get a discount on a replacement. They were more than happy to exchange my boots for my normal brand. I work for a plumbing and heating company and I truly appreciate above and beyond customer service. I got just that. This store is run by good Christian people and I will definitely shop there again!”
“This is the most beautiful store! It's newly renovated and recently re-opened after recovering from Asheville's devasting storm. The shopping experience was outstanding - the three ladies working that weekend - Blythe (the manager) and Leanne and Linda were a fabulous team! They were all very helpful, made great selections, and offered lovely styling tips as well as friendly conversation. Linda has an excellent eye for color and her bubbly personality made my day! I look forward to returning to shop some more and appreciate the excellent customer and comfortable, breezy atmosphere filled with positive energy! Also Biltmore Village should add the store back to their online listings so people know how to find J. Jill - I almost missed them when researching what shops were open in advance. I found J. I asked a few questions on what I was needing shoes for, he showed me two options, brought the shoes out and it seems to be just what I need and probably the most comfortable pair of shoes ive ever tried on in store. They are Altras for trail running for anyone curious. He told me some cool facts about people and shoe size fitment etc.”
