1388 Patton Ave, AshevilleI was so nervous to bring my anxious rescue dog to the groomers for the first time, and we couldn't have had a better experience! Paige was patient, kind, and skilled in how she handled Penny. I am so grateful a groomer with this level of care exists in my area. It's a bit of a drive for us but 100% worth it. Penny left with an adorable bandana, fantastic fresh scent, and the softest coat I've ever felt. I didn't even know she could be puppy-soft like this! Simply magic. Hair of the Dog Pet Salon
1451 Sweeten Creek Rd, AshevilleWe love the way they cut our dog’s hair here! The staff is friendly and I can tell they actually enjoy being around the dogs.I’ll admit that the energy inside is a bit chaotic at times, but they have separate rooms available for dogs that would rather not be around the all other dogs. Usually my dog is in there with a fellow senior pup. If they didn’t have that available though I would likely not bring my sweet girl here (she’s just too old and frail). The younger pups seem to really enjoy it in the main area though! One of the best parts about this groomer is how prompt they are. I’ve only been here twice so this could change, but both times I dropped her off at about 8:30 and both times she was ready around 2:30/3:00. Obviously if you drop you’re dog off late then that would change, but we’ve had good luck here so far!

South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty
1836 Hendersonville Rd, AshevilleI’m incredibly grateful for the care my cat received at SAVES.
I brought my cat from another emergency practice in Tennessee that was closing overnight, as I felt he needed monitoring at a 24-hour hospital due to a urinary obstruction. I called ahead, confirmed that his records had been sent, and when I arrived, they were already expecting us.
I spoke with the doctor right away (Dr. Wedig), who clearly explained the treatment options and the need for hospitalization and extended catheter placement. I was extremely distraught at the time, and the entire team met that energy with compassion and calm reassurance. I also shared my concern about avoiding opioid sedatives due to a suspected link to the obstruction, and they were very open and respectful of that discussion.
During his two-and-a-half-day hospitalization, I received daily calls from the doctor. When I called for updates myself, I was always able to get timely and helpful information. My cat was released promptly once appropriate, and I’m deeply thankful for the care that helped him recover.
I hope I won’t need emergency care again, but if I do, I would not hesitate to return here.

Pet Sitting & Training

Ruff Life Dog Training Services
95 Thompson St, AshevilleAfter trying out a class at Asheville Humane (nice people but way too crowded and chaotic) and meeting with another facility (way too expensive), I am so happy I found Ruff Life! After losing my sweet, very chill 14 y.o. soul mate doggie a little over a year ago, I adopted Harper, a not as chill, but just as sweet Husky mix puppy. I was not quite prepared for the energy and challenges of a high energy, young pup, but after taking the basic Ruff Starters class with Tessa, we are on our way to a happy, peaceful life together. Other than learning basic commands, I came out of the classes feeling like I understand the dog mind much better, so when puppy antics ensue, I have the tools I need to make sure Harper and I understand each other. I loved Tessa's laid back teaching style and that the class size was small (about 6 pups). It wasn't the end of the world if Harper wasn't grasping everything right away or acting out, so I didn't feel judged for my crazy little gremlin not being quite perfect yet. Once Harper is a little older, I plan on taking another class or two. For now, I am continuing to work on the basics and each day gets better and better, thanks to Tessa and her team. Thank you, Ruff Life!

I’m extremely happy with this service and will use them again for sure

Pawsies Pet Sitting of East Asheville
45 Scenic Dr, AshevilleFrom the moment I connected with Raina I knew she would be a good fit. I reached out to her based on reviews and I am so glad I did. My trip was over 2 months out but Raina came by to meet my dog and get a sense of whether this would be a good fit for both of us. When it came closer to my trip Raina reached out to confirm and to do a follow up visit so that my dog wouldn't be surprised when she came o stay with her. They again hit it off and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog. Raina followed up daily and sent me pictures which I really appreciated. I could tell she really cared and took great care of my dog. So I highly recommend Raina. She is very caring, thoughtful and reliable and will absolutely be my go to whenever I have to leave my dog. Thank you Raina! Huli Sue's BBQ and Grill
1 Page Ave SUITE 150, AshevilleOn Saturday, February 14th, I went downtown for a solo dinner at Huli Sue’s and quickly realized I had completely forgotten Billy Strings was in town for the weekend. Between Valentine’s Day and a sold-out show within walking distance, downtown was absolute chaos. Walking into Huli Sue’s, though, felt like stepping into a well-oiled machine. The hostess (I truly wish I had gotten her name) greeted everyone calmly and kept the flow of guests organized and welcoming. They were operating on a reservation system for the evening honestly genius given the circumstances. Even as a party of one, the wait was about an hour and a half, which I completely understood. Knowing I was craving their food, she suggested takeout. She even let me sit at the table where they roll silverware so I could look over the menu and wait for my roommate to text their order and never once made me feel rushed. While I waited, I watched her run the entrance like an absolute goddess. She was pleasant, efficient, and incredibly organized. Every table being notified was already set, down to water poured and ready. When guests arrived, she greeted them with genuine enthusiasm and walked them to their tables like they were honored guests. Downtown was a madhouse. People kept walking in without reservations, and she calmly explained the wait. When guests were understandably discouraged, she let them know they were accepting reservations for the 15th and I honestly didn’t hear a single person turn her down. She made everyone feel welcome. Despite the cold and the madness outside, the restaurant remained calm and peaceful inside. Even at full capacity, the volume stayed comfortable. The kitchen ran like an orchestra no yelling, no chaos, no stressed staff just teamwork and smiles. I wanted to take a moment to praise Huli Sue’s, their staff, and their phenomenal hostess. They handled what could have been an overwhelming night with grace and efficiency. They already had my business —but after that experience, I’ll make it a point to go even more often.

Archetype Brewing
265 Haywood Rd, AshevilleMy spouse and I had an amazing time hosting our rehearsal dinner this past Friday at Archetype! We were able to reserve tables a few months in advance and set up a tab for our party when we got there. Ordered pizzas from Pizza Mind for dinner and they were ready super fast and were delicious. Great variety of beers, cocktails, wine, and non alcoholic options--definitely something for everybody. The space is super chill and welcoming. All-gender restrooms and an overall LGBT-friendly vibe. Also...lots of dogs! As for the people, Corina and Liam were extremely helpful and responsive during the planning process, and Liam was on site during our time and ready to help with anything we needed. He and the rest of the staff kept us updated on how far we were from spending the minimum amount so we could get our money's worth with drinks and merch. All the bartenders were awesome--shout out to Sky! Definitely would suggest this place, whether for a party or just a chill night out.

Mosaic Café
1 Town Square Blvd Suite 150, AshevillePros: cute cafe, lots of food and drink options. Chai latte was superb.\n\nCons: dirty table. The guy taking my order is chewing, eating something. That's not pleasant, nor professional. I asked for a wet rag so I could wipe down the table; it was filthy. Female employee seemed put out but did come and wipe down the table and left it completely wet. Not nice to have a wet table like that so I dried it myself with napkins. \n\nWeird exchange with 2 male staff whilst paying: I asked if there was an additional cost for paying with my credit card as opposed to cash. (There was no sign at the register and I'm finding this is happening more where the merchant is charging their customers the 3% that the credit card companies charge them. They're passing that charge to the customer)\nThe guy said yes they do, and I said OK, I'll pay cash but normally there's a sign indicating that and he responded that they've been doing it for 30 years! Very peculiar. Made no sense. Moving on. \n\nI had half a sandwich/salad combo. Spicy california BLT. wasn't given a choice of bread. No problem. It was good but the bacon was black from being overcooked. Salad was very delicious!\n\nFriends had breakfast burritos and they both said it was mediocre.\nI'd go back and try other things as they seemed very appealing based on the menu.

She disappeared for a few days and then returned to him injured. Brother Wolf assisted us in getting her seen by the vet, scheduled her surgery and assisted in allowing my Son to foster her after the surgery was to be completed with the intentions of adoption. Unfortunately her injuries were too severe and she could not be saved which was heartbreaking to all of us …. Most especially my Son. They have been so kind with their sympathy and support and have even arranged for my Son to receive her ashes after cremation. Thank you Brother Wolf for everything you do and we will never forget your support, service and kindness during this time. ❤️
