Patton Avenue Pet Company- South - with Self Service Dog Wash
582 Hendersonville Rd #3, AshevilleWent to Patton Avenue Pet Co looking for a specific brand of cat food. Was helped by a very friendly employee who was sympathetic to my pets needs and let me pet a super cute cat named Milky who was/is looking for a forever home. I wish I could adopt him but my cats are already wearing me out, I can’t handle any more! Thank you for your help and for carrying specific items that seem to care more about holistic ingredients as opposed to big box store crap.

Pet Grooming

Something To Bark About
875 Tunnel Rd # C, AshevilleMy dog is more precious to me than almost anyone, which made years of groomers sending her home stressed and unsettled heartbreaking.I had started to wonder if a happy grooming experience was even possible.
As it turns out, it is.
My dog leaves every single appointment feeling like herself. Her groomer, Addie, treats her with the kind of love and attentiveness you'd show your own pet — learning her fears and what makes her feel safe. I've walked in mid-appointment to find Addie holding her or kissing her. That says it all.
The trust our family has built with Something to Bark About over the years is rare. They are skilled and thorough in the groom, but also patient and kind and trustworthy. For anyone whose dogs are genuine members of the family, I can't recommend Something to Bark About enough.

Leash.
14 London Rd, AshevilleThe staff at Leash does a great job with both of my dogs (I have a long haired Dalmatian and a small long haired Dachshund chihuahua). Both come home super happy after dropping them off. It’s a noticeable difference from our experience with other groomers… We live about 30 min away and it’s definitely worth the drive for us to take them to Leash. Would recommend to others as your go-to day care and dog groomer

Hair of the Dog Pet Salon
1451 Sweeten Creek Rd, AshevilleI took our small dog Rosie to Hair of the Dog today for the first time. Rosie was getting very matted and out of shape and needed her tonsils trimmed also. Rosie is very skittish with other people and dogs at first but Michelle (owner) and staff worked very well with Rosie. Michelle seemed very patient and it is obvious how much she loves dogs. Rosie received a wonderful haircut and it was exactly as we had asked for it to be done. I am very impressed and we will certainly be bringing Rosie back for future appointments. I highly recommend this place!

South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty
1836 Hendersonville Rd, AshevilleI’m incredibly grateful for the care my cat received at SAVES.
I brought my cat from another emergency practice in Tennessee that was closing overnight, as I felt he needed monitoring at a 24-hour hospital due to a urinary obstruction. I called ahead, confirmed that his records had been sent, and when I arrived, they were already expecting us.
I spoke with the doctor right away (Dr. Wedig), who clearly explained the treatment options and the need for hospitalization and extended catheter placement. I was extremely distraught at the time, and the entire team met that energy with compassion and calm reassurance. I also shared my concern about avoiding opioid sedatives due to a suspected link to the obstruction, and they were very open and respectful of that discussion.
During his two-and-a-half-day hospitalization, I received daily calls from the doctor. When I called for updates myself, I was always able to get timely and helpful information. My cat was released promptly once appropriate, and I’m deeply thankful for the care that helped him recover.
I hope I won’t need emergency care again, but if I do, I would not hesitate to return here.

VEG ER for Pets
1856 Hendersonville Rd Suite F, AshevilleI had just left for Spain when my dogsitter contacted me that my Borzoi, Vanya, was lethargic and drooling and it was a Friday night. When I saw the video she sent, I knew he was in trouble. I asked her to bring him to VEG. She told me how kind, knowledgeable and professional they were. The vet (sorry I don’t remember his name) spoke to me directly, told me his vitals, the diagnostic workup they did-which involved anesthesia, that Vanya had aspiration pneumonia, and the treatment they instituted. When my dogsitter had difficulty giving him the big tablets he was sent home with, she brought him back the next day and they taught her how to do it—at no additional charge. The next day, the vet followed up with me by text to make sure all was well with Vanya. They were absolutely terrific and now, so is Vanya!

The team also readied my pipes for the winter storm, and spread blankets out for the cat in case the house lost power and temps dropped. I’m extremely happy with this service and will use them again for sure

DSSOLVR
63 N Lexington Ave, AshevilleFavorite brewery in Asheville. Was looking for quality craft beer (good sours and Hazy IPAs) preferred. This place hit all the check boxes. Located in downtown Asheville, walkable from where we stayed. Close to the slopes area and other breweries/food/shopping. The sours were amazing. Candy/sweet flavors. IPAs were quality. They do have food as well although we didn’t eat here. Decent sized tap room with an outdoor space. If you’re looking for a good craft brew place do stop in here for a try. IPA/sour forward but they have lagers, darks/stouts and some side pull drafts as well.

Sunshine Sammies
99 S Lexington Ave, AshevilleI never write reviews, but I was so pleased with my experience I had to share. My son has food allergies, so eating out can be tricky. I was thrilled to see that Sunshine Sammies had several vegan options that let us avoid his dairy allergy. They were super patient with all of my ingredients questions, and did not seemed annoyed at all when I asked them to double check on some ingredients. The had several options that were dairy free, and for the first time ever my child got to sample lots of options. AND we got to take home vegan chocolate chip cookies. Also, the kiddie scoops were huge, so everyone left happy and full. I highly recommend.

The River Arts District Brewing Company (RAD Brewing Co.)
13 Mystery St, AshevilleI could be projecting based on how long it took me to stop by here but this is an overlooked underrated brewery in AVL. Others will call you with their rooftops or Main Street locations but you need to come try Quailman at RAD Brewing.
They have a great outdoor and deck space for hanging when the weather is nice and they have free popcorn when you walk in which is amazing all on its own.
The staff is great, they have local group meetups here regularly and if football is your thing they show games regularly on the big screen. And there’s usually a food truck. Do it

Riverside Rhapsody Beer Company
995 Riverside Dr, AshevilleWe met here after my Nephew's graduation from UNCA. Actually the colocated Iron Oak Brisket (they had me at brisket). We got there 15 minutes before the noon opening and a few people were already waiting. Perfect weather to sit outside, under the shelter at the oversized picnic table with our family group. The barbeque was amazing but the brisket stole the show. The sides were great, especially the potato salad. I didn't have beer (I'm on a darn keto diet and had a drive to get home) but the bar area was inviting. The 2 unisex restrooms were clean and roomy. The small parking lot filled fast but there is a row of parking across the front. It's a cool mixed industrial area with plastic pipe being made across the street and an old crane service sign next door. Super convenient to the college.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue
31 Glendale Ave, AshevilleThere is no way to express the gratitude I have for Brother Wolf and their kindness and thoughtfulness. My Son had been feeding a stray cat and became very attached to her. She disappeared for a few days and then returned to him injured. Brother Wolf assisted us in getting her seen by the vet, scheduled her surgery and assisted in allowing my Son to foster her after the surgery was to be completed with the intentions of adoption. Unfortunately her injuries were too severe and she could not be saved which was heartbreaking to all of us …. Most especially my Son. They have been so kind with their sympathy and support and have even arranged for my Son to receive her ashes after cremation. Thank you Brother Wolf for everything you do and we will never forget your support, service and kindness during this time. ❤️
