Smoketree Lodge is an older hotel nestled on the side of a mountain with great views of Grandfather Mountain. The property is well-kept and clean, featuring old decor from the 80s and basic amenities such as a kitchenette with old appliances. Rooms are quiet and generally comfortable, with some guests noting the presence of a step-in tub/shower and no odd odors. The lodge offers a spacious rec room with a TV and a hot tub, which many guests enjoy during their stay. Although there are lots of steps to access the property and no balcony to enjoy the view directly from the rooms, visitors find the location convenient and charming. The staff is courteous, and the overall experience is described as lovely and beyond wonderful. Many guests express intentions to return, especially those visiting nearby attractions like Tweetsy Railroad and Beech Mountain. The resort remains in good condition and is expected to reopen after a temporary closure for power restoration.
Older style but you can't beat the price. My room had poor lighting and you gave to lug your things up the stairs. Otherwise a fine place.

Second time staying here. Nice older place. Could use some updates such as carpet, decor and kitchen utensils and furniture. Needs new pull out bed. It's completely worn out

Place was dated, but it was sufficient for what I was using it for. Close to the slopes but felt the price was to high for the quality of the room
