“This is a great gift store in downtown Black Mountain. A little bit of everything in here. Great gift ideas as well as items for inside and outside your home. Super friendly staff. This place was really happen when I was in there. Prices are fantastic. And they have a Christmas room that they keep up year-round”

“Loved the store and all the unique items. My reason for only four stars is the fact that when I brought my new king quilt home, I’d thought I had purchased something fairly local. I was a bit taken aback with the “made in china” label. Also, one of the shams had a stain that I did point out to the salesperson. She basically shrugged. Best she could do was 10%. I had no choice if I wanted the quilt since it was the only king left in that pattern. Bottom line, loved the unique items, but now I’m not sure what was considered “local” vs manufactured overseas.”

“My husband & I have lived all over the world and have loved Orchids. We were so suprised to find Appalachian Tropicals so close to our new home in Fairview NC in 2013. They have the best Orchids & Air Plants that we have ever seen along with the best Customer Service.”

“This past weekend, we were in Montreat, NC, just outside of Asheville attending a church retreat at Assembly Inn in Montreat.I stopped again at the Ten Thousand Villages shop across the street below Lake Susan.The shop works with artisans and craftspersons from around the world and provides markets for them to sell their handy work to the world. The shop features jewelry, pottery, linen work, wood-working items, and much more. They have wind catchers, leather bound journaling books, glasswork, and much more, including coffee. The coffee is either ground, or still in bean form to suit your tastates. They have scarves, bags, placemats, coffee cups, and much more.I picked up a beautiful leather bound journaling book and a couple of other items. If you are in the Asheville area, make sure to stop in Montreat, NC and provide a living wage to an artisan from around the world.”
