“Chris George and Chadbourn Body Shop – I can’t thank you enough for the kindness, sense of urgency, and skills extended. I passed a car fire on Route 95, I believe, and thought –that could have happened to me. I don’t believe I would have made it home safely without him repairing my vehicle.
My car was serviced locally (NJ) before the road trip. I felt confident I would not have any issues. The trip was from Plainfield, NJ – Myrtle Beach, SC. My vehicle is older but has less than 65K miles and newer tires. I didn’t doubt my vehicle’s ability to get there and back safely. I was traveling solo. My South Carolina local travel was uneventful car wise and Google Maps settings are always programmed for the fastest route.
On Monday, October 6th I was on my return trip to NJ and experienced a last second change to the recommended route in Columbus County, NC. I did not commit to the alternate route and ended up on a road in Chadbourn. I heard something that I thought was pebbles hitting the top of my vehicle. I was no longer behind any big trucks and didn’t know what would cause the noise and thought maybe it was just the road. A couple in a nice cream-colored SUV pulled alongside while at a stop sign and alerted me that something was hanging/dragging underneath my vehicle (I don’t know if they’re local – many thanks to them !!). I didn’t feel it or realize it at the time. Fortunately, there was a Shell station and convenience store at the intersection. I discovered the splash guard / undercarriage cover was dragging which had been repaired previously. Anxiety kicked in. AAA mobile service in NJ is typically at least 1 hour wait time for assistance and it seemed my insurance company roadside service was having challenges locating me. An internet search led to Chadbourn Body Shop less than a mile away. Great. Okay… I called the shop and spoke with someone and explained what happened. He responded that he would come to where I was to help. It seemed like it was less than 5 minutes later I received a call asking for a description of my vehicle (dark red SUV with Jersey plates). He said, I see you. Chris gets out of a black pick up, introduces himself and begins assessing the issue. He was on the hot pavement looking underneath my vehicle. He asked if I recently had an oil change because there weren’t any fasteners or screws in place. He recommended taking pictures of the hanging guard before he began the repair. He had a kit of “pegs” however my vehicle required screws. He did something to secure the cover that would allow me to safely follow him to his garage. There appeared to many vehicles on the property which gave me the impression that he and the workers had plenty of work. He mentioned the restaurant at the corner was his and the type of food in case I wanted something while I waited. I was anxious to get back on the road and declined the offer (I had at least 6 more hours to drive). I sat in the air-conditioned office and a few minutes later Chris showed me the pieces required for my vehicle ( screw and washer) and advised me to take another picture. He said the cover was missing ten screws from the shield and he needed to find something that would work. I asked him how much I owed him when he was done. He responded, will you get reimbursed for the repair work previously paid for? I answered truthfully, probably not (which I didn't - the local garage denied any wrongdoing). He said, just give me a Google review. As a “Jaded Jerseyan” it was hard to believe. I thanked him, changed into comfortable driving shoes, and was on my way.
The steps to assessing and documenting the problem wasn’t something I was thinking about at the time. If I lived in the area – Chadbourn Body Shop would have a new customer.”

“Chester and the guys at Harold's Body shop just completely restored our 2005 F150. It had a bad rust area on top of the cab. We told them to take their time and just do a good job. We wanted all new lights , grill , etc also. Wow! What a job. It looks brand new! Chester is a very gifted paint and body guy. We are so happy with the way it turned out.
