For the actual logistics:
- This is a great place for savings accounts; specifically, you can’t beat their money market return rate.
- This is not a good place to go for credit cards; the application process is a circus.
- The specific-banking-account numbers, I had to get on paper directly from the teller to set up my direct deposit.
- This place has free financial advising included with having an account.
Now, onto the rest of it. Why do I bank here?
I like that the employees are knowledgeable and respectful of legal names vs preferred names. I like that they have a Spanish-speaking representative always present. I like that this credit union works hard with those who are struggling to get their feet under them. The second time I walked in (after I had set up accounts), I was still greeted and treated like a person and not a customer or won sale.
This place is not the most high-tech or with the best offers, like some of the big banks. But they care. That matters enough for me.”

“I went to FLCU for a car loan. I took in my application. I was contacted by LeDeana Cochrane which was very help in approving my loan. She worked with me very patiently, because I was calling her to find out how much the bank would approve on the cars I was looking at. Each time I called her she took the time out to help me which took almost a month before I found what I was looking for. The day I found the car I was looking at, she was out of the office for a few days I kind a freaked a little , because she was the only one I had been talking to, so I left her a message on the phone telling her I had found a car. I got to the dealership they called the bank and everything was ready to go. LeDeana had sent everything over to Chris Which had taken care of everything while I was at the dealership. LeDeana called and did a follow up when she got back to check to see if I was satisfied with everything.”

“What originally started as the worst banking experience I’ve had turned into the best at this SECU location because of Adam Z. Shapiro. I had been trying to get a check deposited from Chase Bank but was originally told at the first SECU they wanted to hold it for 10 days but referred me to directly take it to Chase to cash since it was their account and check then bring the cash back to deposit it with SECU. So I did. After an hour in traffic due to a bad wreck (hope everyone was ok) the closest Chase was closed due to power outage from the accident. Found the second closest Chase that was 25 min away. Chase Bank wouldn’t cash the check because I didn’t have an account with them. Not only did they NOT offer for me to open one with them but even after letting them know I had already been given the run around at another location and had driven to a second location that’s power was out they let me sit there for 35 minutes just to tell me they wouldn’t cash a check that THEIR bank backed. It was 4:48 and I found the closest SECU and drove there to see if anyone would be willing to help me. I bank with SECU. I walked straight up to Adam and man am I glad I got him after all this mess. He was so nice and professional and genuinely wanted to help. He took care of me and had me back out the door in probably about 5 or less. Wish I would have gotten with him first after spending too much time out of my day over this. I recommend SECU and their services, but especially this location and Adam. Turned my day right around for sure. Adam if your supervisor sees this, they should treat you to lunch. ; ) You’re great and I hope you feel valued because you are a definitely an asset!”
“Although they could use a little more consistent staff in the drive-thru (sometimes things get busy there and one person is not enough to handle eight cars in two lanes, for example), my experiences here have been good. I believe you have to have a family member who is part of the credit union to join and I came by membership through my mother's connection to her husband who worked for the state. I love that you automatically get a checking AND savings and that it is easy to move funds from account to account online, which has allowed me to save money a lot easier from time to time. Other banks I have been with in the past do not make their savings account very accessible. The drive thru is separate from the main building which cuts down on traffic. Thanks for a great experience!”

“I recently visited the First Citizens Bank location in the Park Road Shopping Center, and overall it was a good experience. The staff was professional and the visit went smoothly.
One thing to be aware of is the parking lot — it’s pretty tight. If you drive a larger pickup truck or SUV, you’ll want to be extra careful maneuvering and finding a spot.
Other than the parking situation, everything else was positive. I would visit this location again.”
