“While visiting Haywood County as part of my quest to visit all 100 counties in NC, I found myself intrigued by the billboard for this gas station, so I stopped in for gas, a bathroom break, and to pick up a snack.
This is a very well maintained location with an excellent restroom and friendly staff.
My drives around the state have taken me to a lot of gas stations, and this one stands out above many. (I was there around 10am on 10-10-25, so shout out to the staff there that day!)
Fun side note - this was the first time I filled up my new car ?”
“Channing and Taylor deserve a raise! These guys are truly amazing. The rest the staff is wonderful to work with as well. Theresa Mike and Kyle prices are going to be higher than some grocery stores but it's really a convenient store what I like about them in particular if you have something special you want ordered they will order it for you and that's what makes them different than any other stores.”
“The most friendly gas station clerks in town. They keep the store wiped down several times a day. Shelves always stocked. There pretty fast as far as the lines go, unless one of our older vets are in line. But that's ok he's earned his spot there as long as he needs it.”

“I came here because I really needed a place to park. They don't have a lot of space, but they do have some. I went inside to inquire whether they charged for the parking, and they do not. Not only do they not charge, but they were two of the nicest people I have met in years. They recommend the restaurant next door, which unfortunately for me had just closed. She said they also do breakfast. Very nice and helpful. I really hope if you are coming pass this way, please come in and buy a little something to keep them in business, or at the very least, to say hi. I highly recommend stopping here.”

“I never entered nor purchased anything on Friday evening, Aug 4, 2023, but rather had an incredibly scary incident at the gas pump. To Richard, Ofr Allison, the guy who bought me a coke, and everyone else whose goodwill and kindness saved the day, as if you all dropped down from heaven just for me. I got home to my little community safely. I went straight to Swain's ER and met even more strangers. I am home without any extreme damage, other than looking the way I do and an NFL sized football on my lower back. Thank you so so much for all of your time and care. I've been an overly patient caretaker for years now, but this was not necessarily the vacation I was looking for. “From slices to whole pizzas to make your own calzones...everything was great! Smokey's is indeed in a corner of the BP but the service more than makes up for the ambiance. If you're driving to or from Asheville, Smokey's is worth a stop.”

“I’ve been here twice recently, and this is a really efficient pharmacy. Everyone who has helped me has been really kind to me. I love using the app; it’s so easy to see when prescriptions are ready, send a message to the pharmacy if you need to (they answer quickly), and the ExtraCare scan with faster pickups enabled makes it so easy to pick up prescriptions at the drive-thru. Prices are great, too. Thanks, CVS!”

“After Hurricane Helene, this gas station was remarkably well-organized! They made the rounds through the long line of cars to let everyone know it was cash only. The staff was exceptionally friendly while handling our cash. We were truly impressed by their efficiency. The ladies used walkie-talkies to coordinate with the person inside, ensuring the correct pumps were turned on. Thank you for your excellent organization and patience!”
“Just stopped in for a bathroom break after sitting in I40 traffic. Our family was also ready for lunch! Thankfully we found a great variety of warm food options! Everyone was super friendly as well. Thankful to find this great little stop just when we needed it!”

“Mountain Energy is a Shell Oil Company gas station and Convenient store. They have Public Restrooms, cold drinks and a Dairy Queen Ice cream and Hamburger shop. We love using our SHELL DISCOUNT CARD and getting 5 cents off each gallon of gas we buy. I just wish that the Prices of Gasoline would come down so it wasn't so costly to fill up your tank ?”

“Scratch-off tickets, Gatorade, Rolaids, and petroleum. Marlboro or Winston? Unexceptional and average as far as gas stations go. Adequate for a quick beverage fix or if the fuel light is on. Access to the bypass is convenient.”

“A Sunoco gas station on the way to Maggie Valley. Plenty of pumps and parking. A banana, or Sour Patch Kids. Budweiser or Monster Mean Bean. They can accommodate either. Get your Viceroy's and a hotdog. $7.75 in Unleaded if your returning from Harrah's in Cherokee. I hope you get home. No she won't let you hold another 20. You should have stopped playing slots.”

“This place would get 5 stars in my book if it wasnt for #1 two of their employees that are just so rude and hateful . The first being I think her name is Tonya. She is EXTREMELY RUDE AND SHE ACTS LIKE SHE IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE THERE CUSTOMERS AND OTHERS EMPLOYEES AS WELL. IVE HAD TO WAIT IN LINE WHILE SHE HAD CAME IN OFF THE CLOCK TO CHECK OTHER PEOPLES REGISTER FOR COINS SHE WANTS TO BUY. IF SHE SPEAKS ITS AS IF SHE THINKS YOUR BENEATH HER.IT MAKES ME SICK. The second one is the night Cashier the female. She is Always on her phone I try speaking but shes to busy on her phone to respond most of the time but at least she smiles at the customer. Also #3 There customer bathroom is absolutely disgusting. It needs to be DEEP CLEANED EXTREMELY BAD. ITS NEVER GOT SOAP IN IT AND ALWAYS STINKS. EVERYTHING ELSE AND EVERYONE ELSE THERE IS GREAT . ALL FRIENDLY AND TALKATIVE AND HELPFUL.”
