“Friendly, personal and a great “local” grocery store. Meat selection is solid and the 9th street cookies and Derby Coffee Roasters are an excellent addition! Support your local businesses!!”

“Excellent and affordable resource for the community. Reasonable priced Halal meat. Lebanese bread. friendly and helpful staff. Located by the Pauli Murray historical landmark sign and one of the murals the one that’s on Carol Street. Sufficient parking I would say maybe 20 parking spots available there and if need be, there’s other parking lots available usually but I’ve never needed to use them.prayer rugs and other gifts and non-food items are also available. Was raised by a Jewish father and Christian mother am a letter day Pharisee, and a latter-day saint, both aspirational more than anything, but I also have great respect for and love for Islam, and have always felt supported and welcome here at this Halal market.”

“Really outstanding, authentic tacos. As good as anything I’ve eaten in the best taquerias in Mexico. I’ve been there three times in 2020 and 2021, during the pandemic, so seating was super casual outdoors, next to the parking lot. Don’t come if you’re looking for ambience. The staff is friendly, prices are fair, and the food can’t be beat. I took my super foodie son there. He was skeptical. He ended up wolfing down his food, ordering seconds, and has since taken his friends there. This is the real deal. Highly recommend.”

“Honestly they only deserve 4 stars, but I felt like I needed to counteract the two one-star reviews, since one was about masks and one was about someone not knowing what to expect from a Mexican meat market. The tacos are pretty good. Barbacoa was tender and juicy, though smoked a bit more than I'd like. The al pastor was not good on it's own, mushy and grainy, but somehow became delicious after adding salsas to it. The Chuleta Ahumada was outstanding. I've never had this meat in a taco before, but it was both crispy and tender with great flavor. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla which was pretty good, but severely lacking in cheese. However it came with avocado, jalapeños, and other additions on the side which were unexpected and definitely improved it. I'd recommend not coming here if you don't have at least a basic understanding of Spanish; the girl at the register did not even understand me when I asked for "three tacos." Someone did come over to the register to help translate, but I just started speaking Spanish and he left us alone. In any case, I definitely intend to go back, and in my opinion no restaurant that I want to return to should have 3 stars”
