Island Bookstore is a charming and nice shop with a great and amazing selection of books. It offers a great variety of all the options one could want, including an incredible collection of OBX fiction and nonfiction, local authors, and outer banks specific titles. The store also features leather backed classic novels, journals, calendars, magazines, novelty book items, and other nifty gifts and merch finds. Displays highlight interesting titles, and there is a section of giveaways, free with a purchase. The staff is exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The owner is very friendly and shares a lot of information about the area. Parking is simple with a free lot right outside. The store provides a nice retreat away from the bustle, though some aisles are narrow and there are a few tight corners that can be tricky to navigate. It is definitely worth a visit for anyone who loves books.
